Mary Shelley Brings Frankenstein To Life In ‘A Nightmare Wakes’

When Mary Shelley created Frankenstein she forever secured her place in history. Just days after the upcoming 170th anniversary of her death on February 1, 1851, writer-director Nora Unkel‘s new vision A Nightmare Wakes takes us into Shelley’s world. In the film, “While composing her famous novel Frankenstein, Mary Shelley descends into an opium-fueled fever dream while carrying on a torrid love affair with Percy Shelley. As she writes, the characters of her novel come to life and begin to plague her relationship with Percy. Before long, she must choose between true love and her literary masterpiece.” An unsettlingly intimate portrayal of a brilliant artist at her most troubled, the thriller traces the tortured birth of a timeless masterwork and the rightful ascension of its creator to stand alongside her creation. “With her Creature and Creator, Mary Shelley created science fiction as an entire genre and transfixed 1800s Europe in ways never thought possible. Shelley’s struggle with love, loss, abandonment

Movie Review: Go/Don’t Go

Alex Knapp writes, directs, and stars in his first feature at the helm, Go/Don’t Go. The film is a quiet meditation and character study of possibly the lone survivor in a postapocalyptic world. Go/Don’t Go plays more like a poetic drama about loneliness and the loss of love than typical postapocalyptic horror movies, thrillers, and science fiction films, so viewers expecting zombie hordes, mutants roaming the desert on souped-up vehicles, or agonizing deaths by virus should seek out other fare for that. Knapp’s film is difficult to describe as even a slow-burn because it doesn’t build to a thrilling or terrifying climax, though its ending is quite satisfying given viewer investment in the main character. Knapp portrays Adam, a socially awkward, painfully shy young man who is introduced by a friend at a social gathering to K (Olivia Luccardi in a moving supporting role), a woman who does her best to coax Adam out of his shell. The two fall

Isabelle Fuhrman Gets Bloody In The First Images From ‘Orphan: First Kill’

Back in November, we reported that Isabelle Fuhrman is returning for the prequel to 2009’s Orphan as Esther. Today, we’ve got the first behind the scenes look at Orphan: First Kill via Fuhrman’s social media. Filming will soon wrap on Orphan: First Kill and according to reports, 23-year-old Fuhrman looks as if she hasn’t aged a day since Jaume Collet-Serra’s hit film debuted thanks to clever angles, world-class makeup, and effects. In 2009 Fuhrman brought to life the twisted and terrifying Esther to life. The character was actually a 33-year-old woman named Leena Klammer, posing as a child up for adoption. Once adopted by a young couple with two children, Esther manipulates everyone around her while attempting to seduce her new father and killing anyone who gets in her way. In First Kill, “Leena orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels back to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Leena’s new

Witness The Bone-Chilling Trailer For ‘Sator,’ Inspired By True Events

Witness the bone-chilling trailer for director Jordan Graham’s supernatural horror Sator, inspired by his own life experiences. “Secluded home in desolate forest home to little more than the decaying remnants of the past, a broken family is further torn apart by a mysterious death. Adam, guided by a pervasive sense of dread, hunts for answers only to learn that they are not alone; an insidious presence by the name of Sator has been observing his family, subtly influencing all of them for years in an attempt to claim them.” The uniquely spectral horror-thriller blurs the line between fact and fiction as it’s core story, of a demon making contact with an intimate family, is inspired by director Jordan Graham’s own life. Sator is quite personal to me,” says Graham. “It delves into my family’s dark history with mental illness surrounding a supernatural entity, and uses home video footage to create an interwoven piece between documentary and fiction.” For years generations
