Gravitas Ventures, an Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company, has just announced the release date for the indie, post-apocalyptic thriller Stronghold, written and directed by Julia Camara. When a distressed stranger appears, their lives and future are threatened. The film stars Bianca A. Santos (The Fosters, Legacies, Ouija, Priceless, The Duff), Jaqueline Fleming (Don’t Look Back, Red, Atone) as the familial pair in peril, and Oliver Rayón (Room for Rent, The Chosen, Doc Holliday’s Revenge) as the stranger who threatens the isolated duo. Movie Review: No Sympathy For 'Sympathy For The Devil'

Movie Review: No Sympathy For ‘Sympathy For The Devil’

From writer-director Luke Paradise comes Sympathy for the Devil. The film stars Nicolas Cage (Renfield) as an unhinged psychopath who kidnaps a man (Joel Kinnaman) at gunpoint, taking viewers on a wild ride during a night filled with action and insanity. While en route to the hospital where his wife is in labor, a man is taken at gunpoint by a red-headed stranger and is forced to drive him to various locations where the stranger takes out his anger by killing innocent people. The stranger is played by Nicolas Cage, who comes off like a sadistic asshole with zero f*cks to give. He’s clearly unhinged, but not in a good way. It’s just weird. Maybe I expect too much out of Cage, I mean, he’s usually an expert at playing crazy. As for Joel Kinnaman, who starred as the driver, a worried husband, and father, he did a fine job. However, his character is lackluster and a bit boring. We

Spoiler-Free Reviews: LOVELY, DARK, AND DEEP and STAY ONLINE (Fantasia)

Spoiler-Free Reviews: LOVELY, DARK, AND DEEP and STAY ONLINE (Fantasia)

Lovely, Dark, and Deep (2023) Followers of Fortean phenomena and aficionados of surreal and sylvan horror should find plenty to admire in writer/director Teresa Sutherland’s slow-burn creeper Lovely, Dark, and Deep. Ranger Lennon (Georgina Campbell [Barbarian] in an engaging lead performance) has finally been assigned a job she has long waited for: being in charge, for 90 days, of a backcountry area that requires being taken there by helicopter and that leaves her virtually cut off from civilization except for communication by walkie-talkie and contact with hikers, campers, and fellow rangers. Riffing on what is discussed in David Paulides’ Missing 411 books and videos, the forest in which Lennon works is the site of many missing-person disappearances and occasional solved cases. Lennon’s backstory and motivation for being assigned to the remote spot she has requested involves that scenario, and giving away anything more about the plot would be traversing into spoiler territory. Sutherland, who wrote the screenplay for The Wind,

Director Samuel Bodin Discusses The Horrors Of 'Cobweb' In Our Interview

Director Samuel Bodin Discusses The Horrors Of ‘Cobweb’ In Our Interview

Truly creepy horror movies are few and far between these days, but one new movie, Cobweb, will leave you jumping at every creek and crack you hear in your house for days. In the film, “eight-year-old Peter (Woody Norman) is plagued by a tapping from inside his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter’s fear intensifies, he believes his parents, played by Lizzy Caplan (“Castle Rock”) and Antony Starr (“The Boys”), could be hiding a terrible, dangerous, deadly secret.” I had the pleasure of discussing Cobweb with its director, Samuel Bodin. While the film marks his directorial film debut, Bodin is no stranger to unnerving horror. He delivered frights, chills, and thrills in his absolutely fantastic and creepy AF 2019 series “Marianne,” which I called “the best thing in horror to happen to Netflix this year” in my review. Here’s what Bodin had to say about Cobweb, which is guaranteed to

Soon To Be Release Horror Novel 'No Child Of Mine' Gives Birth To A Ghostly Tale

Soon To Be Release Horror Novel ‘No Child Of Mine’ Gives Birth To A Ghostly Tale

Author Nichelle Giraldes’ new novel No Child of Mine gives birth to a ghostly tale this September. The novel centers on Essie Singh, who never imagined herself as a mother. Fiercely independent and ambitious, with her only soft spot being her husband Sanjay, a baby was never part of Essie’s plan—but then she finds out she’s pregnant. A problematic pregnancy quickly transforms her body into something foreign and forces her dreams of becoming a successful lawyer out of reach. Unbeknownst to Essie, a tragic love story from centuries earlier has haunted her family for generations, leaving a string of fatherless daughters in its wake. The curse has turned her husband into a stranger who spends his nights pacing the attic while Essie’s own body has become an unknown territory. USA Today bestselling author Darcy Coates calls No Child of Mine “hauntingly powerful, equal parts a ghost story and a tale of what we are prepared to do for love.”  Get
