Ronald Defeo Jr., the man who murdered his parents and four siblings, in the house at 112 Ocean Avenue, and inspiring the novel and movie The Amityville Horror is dead at the age of 69. Defeo died in the Sullivan Correctional Facility while serving six life sentences. On Wednesday, November 13, 1974, 23-year-old DeFeo entered a local bar and in a panic revealed that his entire family had been slain. It did not take long for him to be arrested and charged. When police entered the house they found a shocking scene, each family member lay dead in their beds, each from a gunshot wound received while they slept. The children, aging from 9 to 18, were the most heartbreaking sight. During his trial, DeFeo claimed insanity and that voices made him do it. While he admitted to being on LSD and other drugs at the time of the murders, the court deemed him sane and fit to stand trial.

Explore The Most Infamous Haunted House In ‘Amityville ‘76’

A one-man development (literally just one guy) is working on the most intriguing game to date, “Amityville ‘76”. The game takes place following the events of the “Amityville Horror” in 1976 the Lutz family fled their home in the middle of the night because of a demonic presence that was haunting them. Players will take on the role of an individual who was granted access to investigate the house to see whether or not the stories were true. The game itself is a cross between “Amityville Horror” and “Paranormal Activity” The developer painstakingly modeled the interior of the house to how it was when the Lutz family left, right down to the details of furnishings and items left behind. There will be two modes in the game, the story mode (investigation) and exploratory where you can explore the house without anything creepy happening. Amityville Horrible

Reality vs. Bullshit The only fact about any of the Amityville Horror films is that the DeFeo family was murdered in their sleep inside the house on 112 Ocean Avenue. The real horror is what the surviving relatives of the murdered Defeo’s must endure every time one of these lousy films is made. Hollywood cynicism goes beyond making bad films and trying to pass them off as good or worse yet, classics. The real cynicism is from the studios that torture the DeFeo family and make a buck off a terrible situation. As a result, I wonder, has any studio that made these films ever donated a few posthumous bucks to the DeFeo family for their trouble? I’m not one for reparations, but many of these films invoke the DeFeo name. Maybe a scholarship or two set up in memory of the victims? A lot of people made a lot of money off this family’s tragedy. As a result, they
