A First Look At The Pages Of DC’s Imprint “The Conjuring: The Lover”

This June, DC will unleash its all-new DC Horror imprint The Conjuring: The Lover, the monthly five-issue limited series that serves as a prelude to the highly-anticipated film The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, opening in theaters on June 4th. We’ve got a first look at the interior pages of the first issue by artist Gary Brown, who also did the Catwoman comic for DC. The Conjuring: The Lover expands the tragic story of Jessica, a college freshman returning to campus after winter break, bringing with her the anxieties of last semester’s poor grades, the awkwardness of facing a boy she wishes she’d never slept with, and an undeniably unnerving feeling of being watched. Jessica soon comes to realize that something evil has made her its target, and it will not rest until it has her in its unholy grip. But why did this sinister presence set its sights on a seemingly normal college freshman? This terrifying series

Artist Spotlight: Giuseppe Balestra

A little while back I did a review of the new fantastic Ghostbusters Art Book, a collection of amazing artists paying tribute to the iconic movie. In my review, I listed some of my favorite pieces, the poster by the incredibly talented artist Giuseppe Balestra. I feel that Giuseppe’s artwork deserves a more in-depth look. Born in Rome and raised in South Italy, the artist prefers using pen and inks, cross-hatching and stippling, before eventually combining digital color, drawing inspiration from literature, movies, especially horror and fantasy. I like to create illustrations in which the darkness of the shadows stands in contrast to the light. They’ve been called “melancholic, mysterious and poetic. I’ve always loved doing art since I was a child, always experimenting with all kinds of media. I published my first work in late 2015 in The Lovecraft eZine vol.36 and since then I’ve been doing it professionally, working on internal illustrations and covers for books, posters, and

Video Game Review Double Feature! ‘Layers Of Fear’ & ‘>Observer_’ For Xbox One

Recently I wrote an article about the bundling of the two horror narrative games, “Layers of Fear” and “>Observer_”. The games’ developer Bloober Team gave me access to play both of their groundbreaking games for one epic review! Since this is a double review, I’m splitting the games up to avoid confusion and the last couple of paragraphs will be my final thoughts on both games. “Layers of Fear” is about a painter in the midst of the mental breakdown and his obsession over his latest art piece that he hopes will put him back on top. After you start looking at your latest work, that’s when the terror starts. As you explore the house, hallucinations begin to take over of paint drenched hallways, malformed specters, and artifacts that reflect your troubled past as you try to explore for answers only have your senses toyed with by the other side. There are times you have to do some problem solving

Etsy Shop Of (Awesome) Horrors

Etsy is an online store where people sell works that they’ve created and has attracted many artists. Most items you find on the shop range from 3D printed parts, jewelry, and pies with human faces… Yes, you’ve read that right. Ashley Newman’s shop, ItCameFromUnderMyBed, drew public attention recently for art pieces that are pies with faces on the top, obviously fake but done in such great detail that it would be perfect for Halloween parties. At the moment it seems Newman’s shop is out of pies but there are other bodily delights for you to find!

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Adrienne King

Here we are again, my Little Monsters. It’s Wednesday, and I am almost three days removed from the festivities at Days of the Dead, here in Indianapolis. In fact, it was at this years convention that I met this week’s wonderful Woman of Horror, Adrienne King. Born in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, Adrienne got into the business quite early, having made an appearance in an Ivory Soap commercial at the age of six months old. Yes, you read that right – six months old. When she was nine years old, Adrienne portrayed the character of Melinda in the 1965 Hallmark Hall of Fame television film production of Inherit the Wind. After graduation from Oyster Bay High School, Adrienne was accepted to attend New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology where she majored in Fine Art. She would also take jazz dance classes, under the tutelage of Phil Black, that would hone her skills as a performer. After graduating from

A Look At The Incredible Creations Of Rusty Blonde

Last night while scrolling through Facebook I came across a necklace with the sculpted bust of the werewolf from ‘The Howling’. It blew my mind. I had to look further into the artist’s page, Rusty Blonde Art. I found jewelry depicting sculpts of everyone from Poe to Edward Scissorhands to Jack Torrance from ‘The Shining’. It was not all jewelry, there are also figures that look so real that I had to look twice, then a third time. They are all absolutely amazing. Imge Celepçi (aka Rusty Blonde), an amazingly gifted freelance artist/sculpter from Istanbul, Turkey. After only four years of working with Polymer clay, at the age of 33 Imge has the skill that normally takes a lifetime to build. Her workshop can be found at the isolated house in rural Istanbul that she shares with her husband, who she bills as “the best known metal singer/musician in the country”, and their four rescue dogs. She is also a

His wonderful Walking Dead piece is originally what caught my eye but after looking at more of his work I was left truly impressed. “My artworks explores famous, infamous or cult personalities usually with a quote, line or song lyric as part of the final image.” Matt is also a talented musician. He is a member of the band “Hi Fiction Science” currently signed to Esoteric Recordings.
