Movie Review: Animal Among Us (2018)

Merrymaker Campgrounds has a bit of a bad rep…I mean sure two girls were savagely murdered there a few years back, but the case was chalked up to an animal attack and that’s all she wrote, right? Fuck no, what the hell kind of fright flick would that be?!! Enter horror author/college professor/philanderer Roland Baumgarner (Christian Oliver) who just so happened to write a book based on that hot mess mentioned above and heads out to Merrymaker to cut the ribbon at the camp’s grand re-opening. Once there he meets the rangers in charge; Anita and Poppy Bishop (Larisa Oleynik and Christine Donlon respectively), grizzled hunter Burl Wolf (Don Frye, and some frazzled survivors that claim they were fucked up six ways to Sunday by a monster…”animal attack” my ass! Of course the killing continues on and secrets are revealed that challenge everything our heroes know about the monster and themselves! Let’s start with the positives with Animal Among Us…and

Blu-ray Review: Abominable (2006)

Preston Rogers (Matt McCoy), a wheelchair bound man recovering from a severe mountain climbing accident that took the life of his wife, takes his doctor’s advice and heads to a remote cabin in the wilderness near where the tragedy occurred to face his fears and heal in the peace and quite with his prize winning dick of a nurse, Otis (Christien Tinsley) in tow. Of course in exactly one p.h. after he arrives, a group of garrulous beauties takes up residence in the cabin next door…one of which our hero believes was abducted by a Bigfoot-like creature (a rational assumption) after spying on them with binoculars, though of course Otis thinks he’s insane. Well turns out P-man was correct-a-mundo as ‘Squatch is indeed on a kill-crazy rampage, and soon everyone within those wicked woods is fodder for the beast’s deadly desires…and surviving the night will become a near insurmountable challenge! Filled with absolutely tons of effective suspense, a gorgeous monster

Movie Review: Primal Rage is an Amazing Creature Feature you Need to See!

Ashley picks up her husband Max after his stint in the big House and begins a trek through the Pacific Northwest replete with yokel locals, disappointing sex, and a batch of missing persons that rumor has it were spirited away by what the natives call Oh-Mah…also known as Bigfoot to you and me. Soon the duo find themselves well and truly in the shit when they find themselves lost in the woods (after a series of incidents involving an outrageously mutilated man, a mysterious force hucking rocks at roughly the speed of light, and a wild n’ woolly trip down some rapids). As they trek ever on it becomes evident that something large and hairy is on their trail and before long the woods run red with blood! Let’s get the nuts and bolts out of the way before we get to the ghoulish gravy shall we? Primal Rage is one hell of a well made fright flick! The story

Movie Review: Sasq-watch is Worth Layin’ Your Eerie Eyeballs On!

Sasq-watch concerns the half-ass adventures of two brothers; Nigel and Oscar (played by Paul Brittain and Adam Herschman respectively), who have made it their mission in life to collect a huge bounty offered by the family of a deceased Bigfoot hunter before the reward is discontinued. After missing their scheduled guided tour, they hook up with a new guide named Sampson (Neil Flynn as your typical backwoods dude with little patience for idiots…which is unfortunate because he is swimming in them), and Jamie (Christine Bently), the sister of their dead LARPing frenemy who’s forced to go on the trip by her father for reasons. Oh, and don’t forget Claus (Tim Meadows), a rival Bigfoot hunter with a past with the brothers. Sasq-watch has a real charm about it (a phrase I may have never written in any review before…), and while it isn’t always completely over-the-top side splittingly high-larious (though admittedly it often is), it really aims to please, and

Movie Review: Hunting Grounds is Big on Feet and Short on Frights

When someone says the word Sasquatch, for most people it brings to mind the Patterson–Gimlin film footage of Bigfoot striding along Bluff Creek back in October of 1967. Many, including myself, believe that cryptid creatures exist in our world despite the fact that we may never have seen them. Of course if there was a chance to actually see a cryptid, certainly most would prefer a passive encounter at a safe distance. But if you wander into their territory, there are no guarantees of hospitality. This is a lesson that a group of men are about to learn the hard way. Tragedy has struck leaving Michael Crew motherless and Roger Crew a widower. They are at rock bottom having no money and no home except for an old ramshackle cabin located deep in the woods of northern Washington State. This is a situation that will push an already strained relationship between this father and son, to its absolute breaking point.
