MGM Sinks Its Fangs Into A New ‘Blacula’ Movie

One of the most iconic vampires to ever bare their fangs is Blacula, played in the 1972 classic blaxploitation film starring William Marshall and directed by William Crain. Guess what, it’s getting a modern reimagining, Variety reports. Before you get your panties in a bunch, you should know it’s more of a sequel than a reboot. The new movie will pick up where the original ended and after the 1973 sequel Scream Blacula Scream. In the new movie, “Blacula is an ancient African prince who is cursed by Dracula after he fails to agree to end the slave trade. Blacula is entombed and awakens 200 years later ready to avenge the death of his ancestors and of those responsible for robbing his people of their work, culture, and heritage as they appropriated it for profit.” Variety states. MGM, Bron, and Deon and Roxanne Avent Taylor of Hidden Empire are behind the new movie. Here’s a look back at the original

Review: Amazon’s Series “Them” Hits You Like A Sledgehammer

“Them,” set in the 1950s, centers on a black family who moves from their home in North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood during a period known as “The Great Migration.” The family’s new idyllic home soon becomes ground zero for racial prejudice, malevolent otherworldly forces, and other evils that threaten to ravage and destroy them. Honestly, I didn’t make it through the premiere episode on my first try. I couldn’t finish it. I was left emotional and heartbroken. It took me several days to try again, this time I lasted through the end of the premiere and two more episodes before I folded and gave up again. My heart couldn’t take it. A day or two later, I was determined to see it through. I was left angry and depressed, and I couldn’t get it out of my head. Billed as a horror series, the show is more about the horrors African Americans have faced than about scares
