New ‘Texas Chainsaw’ Movie Will Premiere On Netflix

Leatherface is back! A new brand new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie (the ninth of the franchise) is gearing up to premiere on Netflix. Filmed in Bulgaria last year, the movie is being described as direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 original, the same way that David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy was for that franchise. The news was announced by Netflix’s official Twitter account, which states that the film is “a new chapter in the iconic horror franchise that is set in the present day and returns to the roots of Tobe Hooper’s horror classic.” Alice Krige, Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Jacob Latimore, William Hope, Nell Hudson, and Moe Dunford star, with Mark Burnham playing the iconic role of Leatherface. David Blue Garcia (Tejano) directs with Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe) producing. A release date has yet to be announced, but it will more than likely arrive this year. “Penny Dreadful” Director Adapting ‘My Best Friend’s Exorcism’ Starring Elsie Fisher

Damon Thomas, the director behind the series “Killing Eve” and “Penny Dreadful” is set to bring us the new Amazon movie My Best Friend’s Exorcism, an adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s hit novel. THR reports that My Bestfriend’s Exorcism, which began production this week, is “set in 1988, the novel centered on the relationship between Abby and Gretchen, two best friends and sophomores in high school. Their friendship is tested when an evening of skinny-dipping goes wrong, and Gretchen begins to act differently and followed by bizarre occurrences. After some investigating, Abby begins to horrifyingly suspect that her friend may be possessed by a demon force.” Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade) leads the cast that also includes Amiah Miller, Cathy Ang, and Rachel Ogechi Kanu. Jenna Lamia (NBC’s “Good Girls”) wrote the screenplay and will serve as associate producer. The Gotham Group, Quirk Productions are producing along with Christopher Landon, the writer-director of hit horror movies such as Freaky and Happy Death

It’s been a minute since we’ve had an update about the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre installment being produced by Fede Alvarez, the man behind Don’t Breathe and the Evil Dead reboot. Today we can report that the movie is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original 1974 classic. During a conversation with The Boo Crew Podcast, Alvarez confirmed it. He also revealed that the movie is set many years after the events of the first film and that we will see Leatherface as an older man. It is a direct sequel, and it is the same character. It is old man Leatherface.“ He went on to describe the movie as “old school”. “Everything is classic, old school gags.A lot of the approach that we had with Evil Dead – never VFX, to do everything on camera. It’s a very old school approach to filmmaking. Vintage lenses… it’s very similar to the original film.” Cinematographer turned director David Blue Garcia is
