‘Boar’ Film Poster Released

Since living in Australia, I have seen arachnids that Frodo certainly couldn’t escape from, bats that would make Batman sweat, kangaroos that could knock out Tyson, heat that has melted my shoes, and a variety of other things that are nightmare-causing. Now, just in case Australia needed one more thing that could kill you, there is a giant, rampaging boar! Chris Sun presents the first image and poster for his upcoming film, ‘Boar’ which is set in Australian’s nearly uninhabitable outback. Starring John Jarrat and Bill Moseley, the trailer is yet to be released but the images have my curiosity piqued! “Lurking within this picturesque setting is a dark and terrifying threat – a beast of staggering size with an uncontrollable desire for blood and destruction. Driven by its insatiable appetite for carnage, it defends its territory with brutal force and savagely takes on any who get in its way.” Keep a close eye on horrorfuel.com for all your horror

Bigger Than Harry Knowles

Me Too A recent wave of sexual harassment allegations against Ain’t It Cool News founder Harry Knowles has moved through the film world. Knowles is accused of allegedly groping, fondling, verbally accosting and making unsolicited advances against a number of women over the years. The famed “Head Geek” of the pioneering film website announced he was taking a leave of absence placing his sister in charge of the site. This news comes on the heels of similar allegations against The Alamo Drafthouse. Online response was swift and hard, condemning the alleged actions of Harry Knowles and Drafthouse writer, Devin Faraci. Some of Knowles’s best veteran writers as Eric “Quint” Vespe have resigned their positions in protest and out of good moral conscience. The allegations continue to roll in and Knowles seems to have taken a very casual response to the scandal, calling his exile from Fantastic Fest a chance to “mind the store” and devote more time to his website. Independence Day: A Landmark Disaster

Cynema is not a film review series. There are plenty of those online. Once in awhile a film comes along that defines everything about my Cynema concept. The latest is Roland Emerich’s two decades later (Why? That’s addressed later) sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence. It’s hands down one of the worst films of the last five years. I knew what I was getting myself into. This is one of those movies that you can easily dismiss by saying “what did you expect? It’s okay, it’s not the worst thing ever. Just go with it.” They got my money. However as I write this I continue to fight. I resist. I will not go into the darkness quietly…I had to get my Bill Pullman Henry V/Braveheart speech moment because a a number of people in this cynical mess try for one. I counted at least four times when someone tried to give some kind of “let’s kick ass” mini speech or pep

10 Ways to Support Women in Horror Year Round

As Women in Horror Month draws to a close, so will the frequency of support for women in the genre, but it doesn’t have to be that way. The following are 10 ways you can continue supporting women in horror beyond the month of February. 1.) Actively seek out work by female, and female-identifying, horror creators, especially work from those who are new to you. Familiarizing yourself with more women in horror introduces you to a range of voices. If you don’t like one artist, you may like another. How will you know if you don’t observe them all? 2.) Support those creators by sharing their work with others. Chances are that if you haven’t heard of someone, other people might not have either. Share the love! Spread links to their work and invite friends to screenings or other events! 3.) Inspire and empower other women to work within the genre. The only way for the genre to continue growing
