‘The Last Of Us’ Is Being Adapted Into A Movie

I have great news for the fans of the video game ‘The Last Of Us’, the highly ranked video game that was released last June, is being adapted into a live action movie. Joel is a hardened smuggler, but when he is asked to get the fourteen year old daughter of a dying friend across the country to another quarantine zone, he agrees. The journey through the post pandemic America will change them both forever. Together they face groups of survivors, infected people and burden of fighting for survival. Sony’s Screen Gems production company will be distributing the movie. ‘The Last Of Us’ movie already has several impressive names attached to the project. Neil Drunkmann, the creative director of Naughty Dog Entertainment, will be writing the movie’s script. Sam Raimi and Naughty Dog Entertainment’s co-presidents Christophe Balestra and Evan Wells will also be involved in ‘The Last Of Us’, though there is no word exactly what title they will have.

‘Realm’ To Become A Full Length Horror Film

In the movie ‘Realm’ Clara Daniels, a teenage girl has the ability to enter the body of the possessed and go toe to toe with the demons within. ‘Realm’ began as a short by Scott Spear ,which was released just two weeks ago. ‘Realm’ stars Adelaide Kane (The Purge). Relativity Media purchased the rights to the film with the intent of turning the short into a full length film. Rebecca Sonnenshine, producer of ‘The Vampire Diaries’, served as one of the writers for ‘Realm’ along side John Swetnam. The teenage centered supernatural action movie will be directed by ‘Step Up 4’ director, Scott Speer, who will double as an executive producer. This supernatural movie will have a Buffy meets ‘Underworld’ type of feel. Granted, the movie may not excite the older horror fans, but it may introduce the genre to a new generation of fans, which is always a plus. We will post an update when we know more.

Pennywise Is Coming To New York!

The reboot of the 1990 miniseries ‘IT’, based on the Stephen King novel by the same name, is finally entering the pre-production phase of filming. After a five year wait, ‘IT’ will begin filming this June in New York. The new version of ‘IT’ will be divided into two films and possibly a trilogy by director Cary Fukunaga. Writers Seth Grahame Smith, David Kajganich and Chase Palmer wrote the script for the new ‘IT’. Director Cary Fukunaga The biggest delay in filming has been trying to find a new Pennywise who can match Tim Curry’s performance as the killer clown (if that’s even possible). There is no word yet who has been cast as the new Pennywise or who else will star in ‘IT’. ‘It’ follows the story of a group of adults who have returned to their home town, where they were tormented as children by bullies and by visions of a killer clown named Pennywise. The seven kids

James Gunn And Greg McLean Are Teaming Up For A New Project

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ writer/director James Gunn is teaming up with Greg McLean, the writer/director behind ‘Wolf Creek’, for a new project titled ‘The Belco Experiment’. James Gunn’s script for ‘The Belco Experiment’ has been shelved for a couple of years but is now finally going into production. Gunn has stated that the script is based on a dream he had one night. “The story revolves around the American Belco company in South America which is mysteriously sealed off at the beginning of a work day, and it’s employees are ordered to kill each other or be killed themselves. This starts an escalation of violence, where we discover the true nature of each and every Belco employee.” Gunn and Peter Safran (The Conjuring) will be producing ‘The Belco Experiment’. At the moment that is all we know about the project, save for the fact Gunn refers to it as ‘the most intense and uncompromising script” that he has ever written.

‘XX’ A Horror Movie By Women For Women

A talented group of women have come together to make a female driven horror anthology, ‘XX’. The short films were written and directed by Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body), Jennifer Lynch (Surveillance), Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured) and ‘American Psycho’ writer Mary Harron. ‘XX’ is comprised of four short films tied together by a common element. Sofia Carrillo (La Casa Triste) will be creating the scenes in between the segments, as well as the beginning sequence. Women make up half of the fans of the horror genre, but it’s rare that a movie is made with women in mind. ‘XX’ will be made by women, for women. The cast and synopsis are yet to be released, but with such a talented group of writers I expect ‘XX’ will be a great movie. We will see ‘XX’ released some time in 2016.
