Day Of The Dead Being Remade Again

Back in 2008, Steve Miner remade George A. Romero’s zombie classic Day of the Dead. Now, the film is getting yet another remake, this time with Hector Hernandez in the director’s chair. And production will begin soon, according to Screen Daily. The new version follows a former medical student who is tormented by a dark figure from her past, who happens to be a half-human and half-zombie hellbent on destroying her. To us it sounds more like a reboot than a remake, but we’ll just have to wait and see. I think we can agree that we’ve seen enough remakes and reboots lately. But who knows, maybe this version will be okay.

Evil Dead Writers To Adapt Monsterpocalypse For Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has officially won the biding war over the film rights to Monsterpocalypse. Evil Dead‘s Fede Alavarez has signed on to direct the film as well as co-write the screenplay along with his fellow Evil Dead alum Rodo Sayagues. The film is an adaption of Pivateer Press’ board game by the same name, which pits humans in robotic suits against monsters. This isn’t the first time Monsterpocalypse has been in the works. Back in 2010 the film was set to enter preproduction with Tim Burton directing, but the film stalled when Guillermo del Toro began work on a competing film, Pacific Rim. Figuring that fans only needed one humans versus monsters movie at the time, Monsterpocalypse was put on the back burner. Alavarez and Sayagues are a winning team. Ray Stevenson And David Oaks Starring In Antartic Thriller Cold Skin

Ray Stevenson of the Divergent franchise has been cast along with David Oaks (The Borgias) in the psychological thriller Cold Skin directed by Xavier Gens (Hitman, Crusifixion), Variety reports. Cold Skin, which has begun production in Spain, is based on the best-selling novel by the same name from Albert Sanchez Pinol. The film begins with a young man traveling to a remote island on the edge of the Antarctic Circle to relieve a weather observer stationed alone at the base. When he arrives he finds a deranged castaway who has witnessed a horror he refuses to name. Kinology will co-produce along side Babieka Films. Warner Bros. Announces Release Date For IT

Warner Bros. has announced that a release date has finally been set for their remake of Stephen King’s IT. Filming is set to begin in Toronto and will run from June 27th to September 6th. After years of rumors and problems it seems this time the first installment of IT, penned by Gary Doberman, is actually moving forward with a second IT film featuring the same characters (as adults) coming later. IT is scheduled to open in theaters on September 8, 2017. IT is very close to the source material in one way but very different if you look at it as a literary piece of work.” Producer Roy Lee says. “We’re taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids, and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults that could potentially then be cut together like the novel. World War Z 2 Moving Forward

It has been a while since any news about the upcoming sequel to World War Z has surfaced. Today we can report the film has now entered into preproduction and is preparing to begin filming late this summer. WWZ 2 will follow United Nations Investigator Gerry Lane, played by Brad Pitt, and the continued fight to rid the world of the zombie plague. The original director, J. A. Banyon, stepped away from the project last year and the new director for WWZ 2 has yet to be announced. But it sounds like the new director, who ever he or she might be, is already in negotiations. MGM Wins The Rights To The Supernatural Film Deeper Starring Bradley Cooper

After a bidding war, MGM has snagged the rights to Deeper, the upcoming supernatural thriller starring Bradley Cooper, according to Variety. The film, directed by Kornel Mundruczo (White Gods) and penned by Max Landis, centers on a former astronaut (Cooper) hired to pilot a submersible to the deepest point of the ocean. As the submersible descends, supernatural events begin to occur. Deeper has been described as having elements similar to the film Gravity and it has been said that it may be a contender at next year’s Oscars. Landis will produce along side David Goyer and Addictive Pictures. The film is expected to begin production in late 2016 or early 2017. Underworld 5’s Official Title And Teaser Poster Unveiled

We reported back in May of last year that a new Underworld sequel was in the works. Back in October the film began production. Today we can report that an official title has been announced for the high-octane vampire/werewolf film. The title of the fifth film of the franchise is Underworld: Blood Wars. Kate Beckinsale’s vampire character, Selene, will be returning for the film along with several other stars from the previous sequels, including Theo James and India Eisley who plays Selene’s daughter Eve. Game of Thrones actors Charles Dance and Tobias Menzies, who will be playing the Lycan leader Marius, will also appear in Blood Wars. And Laura Pulver (Sherlock) will be joining the cast along with Daisy Head (Fallen), Peter Andersson (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Bradley James (iZombie) and Clementine Nicholson. Take A Look At The First Images From Universal’s Mummy Reboot

Universal Studios has begun filming their still unnamed Mummy reboot in London, which will be a part of their new shared universe . The first images from the film have already been leaked. The photos feature The Mummy‘s lead actor, Tom Cruise, and lead actress Annabelle Wallis. Alex Kurtzman will be directing from the script penned by Jon Spaihts. Sean Daniel and Chris Morgan will be producing the action thriller, which is to be more horror based than the 1999 The Mummy starring Brandon Fraser. The new Mummy will be the first in the history of the Universal monster films to feature a female mummy, and be completely set in the present day. Gene Simmons And WWE Studios Teaming Up For The Horror Film Temple Starring Wesley Snipes

KISS front man Gene Simmons’ company Erebus has teamed up with WWE Studios for a new film titled Temple, starring Wesley Snipes, Dave Annable, Anne Heche, and WWE superstar Seth Rollins, and will be directed by John Stockwell (Turistas), Deadline reports. Temple, written by Matt Savelloni, follows “a team of trained operatives who find themselves trapped inside an isolated military compound after its artificial intelligence is suddenly shut down. Once inside the team begins to experience strange and horrific phenomena.” Wesley Snipes, known for his role as the vampire slaying day-walker Blade, Had this to say about the upcoming film: “It’s exciting to find myself in a genre I have always wanted to explore. We are looking forward to a great brand collaboration with Erebus, WWE and Gene.” Filming for Temple begins this week. Snipes will be producing along side Simmons and WWE Studios president Michael Luisi. WWE Studios will handle North American sales with Voltage Pictures handling international markets.
