Shudder Review: The Boy Behind The Door (2021) Is A Dark Must-See Thriller

There are few things in this world that upset me more than the abuse of children. That’s the subject of co-writers and co-directors Justin Powell and David Charbonier’s horror-thriller The Boy Behind the Door. In The Boy Behind the Door, “a night of unimaginable terror awaits twelve-year-old Bobby and his best friend, Kevin when they are abducted on their way home from school. Managing to escape his confines, Bobby navigates the dark halls, praying his presence goes unnoticed as he avoids his captor at every turn. Even worse is the arrival of another stranger, whose mysterious arrangement with the kidnapper may spell certain doom for Kevin. With no means of calling for help and miles of dark country in every direction, Bobby embarks on a rescue mission, determined to get himself and Kevin out alive… or die trying.” First off, I was incredibly impressed by the caliber of acting from the young stars who were both around 13 at the

Movie Review: ‘The Seventh Day’ Is The Exorcism Movie We’ve Been Praying For

Justin P. Lange’s new supernatural horror The Seventh Day has just been released. The film follows exorcist Father Peter (Guy Pearce) who teams up with a rookie apprentice for his first day of training. As they plunge deeper into hell on earth, the lines between good and evil blur, and their own demons emerge. I’ll be honest before I sat down to watch The Seventh Day I had assumed it would be your average exorcism movie, I can now tell you that I was wrong. Seventh Day is far from the exorcism movies we’ve come accustomed to. What we usually get is a movie that’s predictable with a story we feel like we’ve seen a hundred times. Truthfully, we haven’t gotten a really good exorcism movie since The Exorcist III, until now. I have a talent for guessing the way a movie will end, but this movie left me completely surprised and packs one hell of a twist that you

Hail To The Chief : An Open Letter To The Heart Of HorrorFuel- Kelli McNeely

An open letter is usually written by one person to another for the purpose of criticizing them in a public forum. But I say fuck that. Instead I am using it as a way to express my gratitude. And while it’s meant for her, I’ll probably also talk directly to you other readers as I give my spiel. Let me preface this letter with a little history. It was July 21st of 2016. I remember this because it’s my father’s birthday and he had passed away two years prior. I was writing for another publication, which will remain nameless, and I was struggling with my motivation for writing. It wasn’t that I didn’t have any ideas, it’s just that I was feeling in a rut. I mean there were only so many identical entertainment stories I could write before just wanting to say “FUCK IT!” What do I mean by “identical entertainment stories”? Imagine that one day you write a

King’s Son Has High Praise for ‘IT’ Remake

It’s a pretty big year for Stephen King fans, with a film adaptation of The Dark Tower, a new original show Castle Rock, a television adaptation of Mr. Mercedes, and more being announced/released. But the most exciting upcoming project has got to be the IT remake, a new adaptation of one of King’s most famous (and longest) novels. The first trailer blew up online, with its terrifying new vision of Pennywise the Clown and 1980’s setting (as opposed to the 60’s setting in the novel). With just a few months until IT is released, a few people in the industry have seen an early cut, and at least one of them has high praise for the Andres Muschietti’s directed film. “Andres’ adaptation of IT is one of the 5 scariest films ever made,” Hill confidently stated. “It’s tremendously humane. You love the characters in it. But it is just relentlessly terrifying.” That quotes from author and Stephen King’s son Joe

ISLAMIC EXORCIST Puts A New Spin On A Classic Genre

Islamic Exorcist is exactly what it sounds like; The Exorcist, just with Islam. Given The Exorcist is one of the best horror movies ever made however, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. And Islam can stand toe to toe with any other religion as far as scary ass demons go. Ever heard of Zaccoum? It’s basically a tree, except with more decapitated heads. Based on a true story (because what good exorcism movie isn’t?), Islamic Exorcist is directed by Faisal Saif, who actually received death threats while filming. From the mouth of the man himself, “I got lots of life threats from the Muslim and Shia Muslim community to not to make this film or if already made, not to showcase it anywhere.” Damn. With that much horror just behind the scenes, the full film itself must be terrifying.

CREEPY Review: Long, Repeititve J-Horror

REVIEW BY KELLI MARKSMAN MCNEELY Takakura is a former detective. He receives a request from his ex-colleague, Nogami, to examine a missing family case that occurred 6 years earlier. Takakura follows Saki’s memory. She is the only surviving family member from the case. Meanwhile, Takakura and his wife Yasuko recently moved into a new home. Their neighbor, Nishino, has a sick wife and a young teen daughter. One day, the daughter, Mio, tells him that the man is not her father and she doesn’t know him at all. That is what the official synopsis of the movie says.. I also read some appreciating reviews about the movie. But according to me, It seems like Kurosawa lost his magic. This is a very average movie, nothing you haven’t seen before. The camera-work and acting is great but the movie and the whole plot was a huge letdown to me. The first half is something like the vein of ‘Cure’ (Kurusawa’s 1997
