Kurt Sutter Makes His Feature Directorial With ‘This Beast’ Inspired By A True Story

“Sons of Anarchy” writer-director Kurt Sutter is making his feature film directorial debut with This Beast, inspired by The Beast of Gévaudan, the true story about a mysterious beast that terrorized a French village in the 1760s. The Netflix film is set in “an 18th century English village is besieged by a mysterious and elusive beast. Dozens of innocents are slaughtered and the mayhem is driven to puritanical heights by religious fanaticism. The impossible task of killing the beast falls to a lowly trapper who promises he can stop the carnage. New ‘Paranormal Activity’ Movie Coming From Franchise Writer Christopher Landon

Christopher Landon, the man behind Happy Death Day and most recently the body swap horror Freaky (review) is returning to write the next installment of the Paranormal Activity franchise for Blumhouse. Landon was also behind the second, third, and fourth films of the franchise as well as 2014’s Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Get this, William Eubanks who recently brought us the deep-sea monster movie Underwater (review) will be in the director’s chair for the found footage flick, THR reports. According to THR, the project is “being described by insiders as an “unexpected retooling” of the franchise, being made by Paramount Players.” Franchise producer Oren Peli and Jason Blum of Blumhouse are on board to produce the new installment of Paranormal Activity which is slated to arrive on March 4, 2022.

Darren Aronofsky & Jared Leto Reteam For Film From ‘Ring’ Writer

Before The Ring movie franchise was made the frightening tale was born in Koji Suzuki‘s novel. Now, another film adaptation of Suzuki’s is headed our way from 2000’s Requiem for a Dream and The wrestler director Darren Aronofsky. Aronofsky is reteaming with Requiem for a Dream star Jared Leto for Adrift, the adaptation of Suzuki’s short story. The story “is set in the dead calm of the open sea, where a fishing boat discovers an abandoned yacht with a strange distress call. A deckhand agrees to take lone control of it while it’s towed into port, but soon he discovers why the rest of his more experienced crew members call it a Ghost Ship.” Deadline reports. Luke Dawson is writing the script along with Aranosky for the film that will be produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum. David Gordon Green’s ‘The Exorcist’ Will NOT Be A Reboot

David Gordon Green, the brilliant director behind the new Halloween trilogy, is co-writing and directing the upcoming movie The Exorcist for Morgan Creek and Blumhouse. While some sites are reporting that it is a reboot, according to our sources, the new movie is in fact a SEQUEL! While the title and plot are still being kept quiet, we do know that the movie will be set years after the events of the 1973 original, in the same way as Green’s Halloween (2018) was for that franchise. Mike Sprague is set to pen the script. We also know that William Friedkin will sadly not be involved in the sequel. Zac Efron (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, The Greatest Showman) has signed on to star in Firestarter, the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s classic sci-fi thriller, from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, and Weed Road Productions. The film centers on a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.
