A Review Of The Outbreak Thriller ‘Viral’

From Directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman comes ‘Viral‘, the outbreak thriller starring Analeigh Tipton, Sophia Black-D’Elia, Michael Kelly, Brianne Howey, Judyann Elder, John Cothran, Jay Hieron, and Machine Gun Kelly, with Jason Blum of Blumhouse producing. In the film, two teenaged sisters Emma (D’Elia) and Stacey (Tipton) live a normal life, until their small suburban neighborhood is stricken with a mysterious parasitic virus. As the disease rapidly spreads throughout the town, the two band together to barricade themselves in and away from the infection. But it may already be too late – when the virus enters their home, the sisters are forced with an impossible choice: protect each other, or survive the virus. To be honest, I didn’t have high hopes for ‘Viral’. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised. The story was fresh and unique. The special effects were kept to a minimum and that was a fantastic choice. Too many films rely on heavy CGI to make the movie

An Update On The Upcoming Tremors Series

It’s been a while since it was announced that the giant graboids are back for anther round in an upcoming ‘Tremors’ series. News has been slim since Kevin Bacon revealed he would be reprising his role as Valentine “Val” McKee, one half of the duo who fought the hungry critters in the 1990 cult classic. Bacon will not only be starring in the new series, he’ll also be serving as executive producer. Unfortunately, Bacon didn’t appear in any of the sequels. They just were not the same without him. Bacon told Collider, “They went and made a bunch of sequels to the movie. I want to put those aside because, first of all, I wasn’t in them.” It sounds as if the series will be a direct spin-off of the original film. The good news is, ‘Tremors’ is currently in development. No premiere date or network has been revealed at this time. Blumhouse is currently shopping the series to multiple

Blumhouse Gains Rights To Devil’s Night

Blumhouse, the prolific horror distributor behind hits such as Paranormal Activity, Sinster, Insidious and The Purge, has snagged the rights to Devil’s Night. The film explores the night before Halloween, when young people get into mischief, pull pranks and throw parties. But there have been many times when more destructive practices come into play like murder, arson and other serious crimes. For some strange reason, Devil’s Night is rarely featured in horror films. The film that most capitalized on the holiday was 1994’s The Crow. Devil’s Night Detroit 2015 Blumhouse head Jason Blum will be producing along side Bobbi Sue Luther. Ryan Turek, Blumhouse’s director of development, will be overseeing the film. Sean Trett, known for writing SyFy’s series adaption of 12 Monkeys, will pen the script for Devil’s Night. Jason Blum At the moment little else is known about the project, but we will keep you posted as the film continues to develop.

The Release Of Amityville: The Awakening Rescheduled For 2017

Earlier today news came via Dread Central that the Weinstein Co. has cancelled the release of Amityville: The Awakening. The film was scheduled for release on April 1st, 2016, but now won’t make into theaters until January 6th, 2017. Amityville: The Awakening has already been delayed, renamed, and recut several times. It was originally scheduled for release back in September of 2014. Supposedly, the reason for the date change, this time, is because the studio does not want to go up against Batman v. Superman in theaters. Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Bella Thorne (Blended), Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon a Time), Cameron Monaghan (Shameless), Thomas Mann (Project X) and Robo Cop’s Kurtwood Smith star in Amityville: The Awakening, written and directed by Franck Khalfoun (Maniac) with Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions serving as producer for the film. The film follows Joan (Jennifer Jason Leigh), a single Mother, and her three children, one who is very ill. They have relocated
