Thai Horror ‘The Convent’ Gets A New Disturbing Trailer Ahead Of U.S. Release

A new trailer for the Thai horror The Convent has been released and it just might give you nightmares. Originally titled Run Phee and then Senior, writer-director Wisit Sasanatieng‘s film is finally coming to the states, we just don’t the exact date. The trailer includes some terrifying sights such as a ghost whose face is crawling with maggots, a spirit covered in eyes, and an angry ghost whose face is dripping with blood. The Convent centers on a young woman at a boarding school who can smell ghosts. She teams up with a dead classmate to uncover secrets that would prefer to remain buried. As they try to solve a mystery that began fifty years earlier with a murder, the two are faced with angry spirits hellbent on keeping the school’s secrets. Movie Review: ‘Sweet Water’ (2021)

From director Justin McMillan comes Sweet River, out in theaters and on VOD on April 23, 2021, from Gravitas Ventures. The film centers on Hanna (Lisa Kay), a grieving mother whose son was killed by a serial killer, however, the boy’s body was never found, and she never found acceptance. At the beginning of the film, Hanna rents the cottage on the property where the serial killer lived in hopes that she might find her son’s body in the nearby field, not knowing that the land holds many dark secrets. A bit of slow-burn, Sweet River is a thriller at heart, exploring death, grief, acceptance, regret, and how far a parent would go for their child. While there are paranormal aspects of the film, the death of the child takes more of the focus in the story. Lisa Kay did great with the role she was given, which was an emotional one. Suki Waterhouse Enrolls In A Haunted Boarding School In ‘Seance’

Suki Waterhouse (The Bad Batch, Assassination Nation) is set to star as the protagonist in Simon Barrett‘s horror directorial debut, Seance, EW reports. “Seance is a murder mystery set at a girls boarding school where a young woman recently died,” says Simon Barrett. “Our hero moves into her dorm room, which is believed to be haunted, and sets about trying to find out what happened.” “She was the first person who signed on,” Barrett states. “I was looking at Suki originally to play Alice — the bully, the leader of the girls at the school. I thought of Camille as an underdog. Suki is a model, she has such a striking look, I was not certain how that would work. Then I sat down and talked with her for like three hours, and she had an interesting take on Camille and totally got the jokes in the film. She honestly was the only person who thought the script was funny.

Corin Hardy And Sam Raimi Team Up For Netflix Horror ‘Every House Is Haunted’

Sam Raimi and director Corin Hardy (The Nun) are teaming up for the new horror movie Every House is Haunted, Deadline is reporting. The Netflix movie was penned by Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman, the writing team behind Project Almanac, and is based on Ian Rogers’ short story The House on Ashley Avenue. Every House is Haunted centers on an insurance investigator who tries to debunk claims that a couple’s death was caused by a haunted house, but his doubts are challenged by a psychic and the mysterious occurrences he witnesses with his own eyes. Genre legend Sam Raimi will be producing under his Raimi Productions banner along with Roy Lee under his Vertigo Entertainment. Vertigo’s Andrew Childs will be executive producing.
