Movie Review: Soldier of War (2018)

Two dipshit kids go frolicking in the woods and uncover a bunker from World War II (as children often do) and end up freeing the zombie soldier inside. Said soldier then proceeds to rip the countryside a new asshole as he goes on one of those “absolutely out of control murder sprees” that are all the rage these days. Enter retirement home resident John Rhys-Davies who Basil Expoisition’s his ass all over the place and fills everybody in on the secrets he holds from he war that may help stop the monster in their midst! Soldier of War, for all of my nonsense above, is actually one entertainin’ fright flick! Coming off a bit like First Blood with a zombie…the slate gray skies, foreboding wooded locales, and our antagonist’s penchant for setting up booby traps for his victims to fall into all bring the Stallone classic (itself a form of pseudo-slasher in my not so humble opinion) to mind, while

A Forbidden Love Awakens Dark Spirits In The Trailer For ‘The Housemaid’

A forbidden love awakens dark spirits in the trailer for Derek Nguyen’s The Housemaid, starring Kate Nhung, Jean-Michel Richaud, Kim Xuan, Svitlana Kovalenko, and Rosie Fellner. In the film, “A forbidden passion awakens vengeful spirits within a haunted mansion in this bloodcurdling, erotic tour-de-force. Vietnam, 1953: Linh (Nhung Kate), a poor, orphaned young woman, finds employment as a housemaid in a crumbling rubber plantation presided over by the emotionally fragile French officer Sebastien Laurent (Jean-Michel Richaud). Soon, a torrid love affair develops between the two – a taboo romance that rouses the ghost of Laurent’s dead wife, who won’t rest until blood flows. Submerged in moody Gothic atmosphere, this stylish supernatural saga confronts the dark shadows of Vietnam’s colonial past while delivering heart-stopping scares. The Housemaid arrives in select theaters, VOD, and on digital in the U.S. on February 16, 2018, from IFC Midnight.
