Blu-ray Review: Raiders of Atlantis (1983)

Future Year 1994: Miami U.S. of A. and the sweet disco sounds of Black Inferno by the De Angelis brothers fills the air with the funkiest of fuckin’ funk! Why do I mention the De Angelis brothers at all, well the music that plays as our “heroes” straight up murder a dude in his home sounds a lot like a piece of the score from Anthony Margheriti’s Yor: The Hunter from the Future (which they also composed the music for)… wait, you want to know why those dudes killed that other dude? It’s because Mike Ross (a truly game Christopher Connelly, he of Fulci’s Manhattan Baby and Mattei’s Strike Commando fame) and his partner Mohammed (ne: Washington… though Ross still calls him “Wash”… or more accurately “Warsh”… in a (not so) stunning (because this was made in the early ’80s) and hilariously accented display of cultural insensitivity… oh, and he’s played by Tony King) are top-notch mercenaries employed by the

New Documentary Goes ‘Searching For Cannibal Holocaust’

Film critic and author Calum Waddell is going to take fans inside one of the world’s most controversial films in his documentary Searching for Cannibal Holocaust. Basically, it is the story of how Cannibal Holocaust has impacted upon the lives of a number of people, including myself,” Waddell told Rue Morgue. During the filming of the documentary, Waddell not only interviewed a number of those involved with the film but also traveled to the Amazon to visit locations where the film was made. In Cannibal Holocaust, a professor on a rescue mission in the Amazon rainforest stumbles across lost film shot by a missing documentary crew. Director Ruggero Deodato‘s infamous Cannibal Holocaust (aka Monsieur Cannibal) has been banned in several countries since its release in 1980. In fact, it is so gruesome that upon making its Italian premiere the director was arrested on obscenity charges. He was then made to prove to the court that all of the actors in

Movie Review: Lilith’s Hell is a Devilishly Good Found Footage Flick

Two words for ya: found footage. All right, who’s still with me…hmm, a lot less of you then before that’s for damn sure. Now while the genre definitely is showing signs of fatigue, I for one think there are new and creative (or at the bare bones minimum “entertaining”) things you can do with the formula…let’s see if the maker’s of today’s review Lilith’s Hell managed to work any magic with the ol’ hoary chestnut… Three film makin’ pals traverse the countryside just outside of Rome to arrive at a remote house with the goal of making an artsy fartsy fright flick. After the arrival of Michelle, the lead actress of their piece, and her make-up artist, events begin going supernaturally south with alarming speed, as things begin to go bump (and moan) in the night. Our gang investigates with the end result of Michelle becoming the Devil’s concubine and playing host to a demonic entity that begins tearing into
