The highly-buzzed about horror-comedy PG: Psycho Goreman (reviews here and here) makes its exclusive Shudder premiere this May following its release on DVD. In PG: Psycho Goreman, siblings Mimi and Luke unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord who was entombed on Earth millions of years ago after a failed attempt to destroy the universe. The kids nickname the evil creature Psycho Goreman (or PG for short) and use the magical amulet they discovered to force him to obey their childish whims. It isn’t long before PG’s reappearance draws the attention of intergalactic friends and foes from across the cosmos and a rogues’ gallery of alien combatants converges in small-town suburbia to battle for the fate of the galaxy. Written and directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void, The Divide, Father’s Day), this out of the world film stars Nita-Josee Hanna (Books of Blood, 4teen), Owen Myre (“NOS4A2,” Alternate Ground), Adam Brooks (The Return, Father’s Day), Alexis Hancey (Silver Tongue ), and

Everyone has been flappin’ their lascivious lips about what a great dive into the ol’ (decidedly comedic) horror biz Psycho Goreman is, so I had to set my eerie eyeballs upon it and give it the once over as only yours cruelly can… for better or for worse, your mileage may vary! After assing around in the backyard, siblings Mimi (Nita-Josee Hanna) and Luke (Owen Myre) unearth a strange jewel that is, in fact, a control module for an intergalactic murder machine (also buried in the backyard). That’s when the ultimate evil in the galaxy, newly christened Psycho Goreman (Matthew Ninaber with vocal duties provided by Steven Vlahos), falls under the control of a bossy weirdo girl from the ‘burbs. What follows is a wicked whirlwind of insanely over-the-top violent mayhem as ‘ol PG has to deal with both the children that are making his life a living hell, as well as every intergalactic shit-kicker that beams down to terra

Today, I’ll be reviewing writer-director Steven Kostanski’s absolutely insane 2020 movie PG: Psycho Goreman. Matthew Ninaber, Kristen MacCulloch, and Rick Amsbury star in the film whose synopsis goes like this: “After unearthing a gem that controls an evil monster looking to destroy the Universe, a young girl and her brother use it to make him do their bidding.” Right off to bat, and with both stars being kids, it did make me question who the target audience is meant to be. The dialogue comes across like it’s meant for an 8 to 12 years old demographic but is filled with people being brutally killed and turned into monstrous creatures. It’s too violent to be a children’s movie and is a bit immature for the adult crowd, in my opinion, leaving it in a kind of no man’s land. Writer-director Steven Kostanski keeps things interesting from beginning to end with all types of craziness going on. And the plot was something
