Anna Taylor-Joy Joining The Cat Of Robert Eggers’ ‘Nosferatu’ Remake

Following the success of his 2015 hit The Witch, director Robert Eggers is preparing to begin production on his new remake of the 1922 vampire classic Nosferatu. Variety is reporting that Anya Taylor-Joy, who played the lead role in The Witch and co-starred in Split, is in negotiations to star in the remake that is both written and directed by Eggers. The original film, an unofficial adaption of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, centered on vampire Count Orick or Transylvania who sets out buy a house in Germany. and becomes obsessed with the real estate agent’s wife.

The Witch’s Black Philip Makes His Second Appearance In A Horror Film

There’s a rising star in the genre, but he’s not human. For those of you who saw 2015’s amazing film The Witch, you know who Black Philip is. The creepy, horned black goat was much more than he appeared. It turns out that The Witch was just his debut. The 200-pound goat, whose real name is Charlie, has now starred in his second horror film, the highly anticipated film It Comes At Night (review), from director Trey Edward Shults which is now in theaters. Both films were released by A24. Coincidence? In an interview with MIC stars of It Comes at Night, Christopher Abbot and Riley Keough, admitted that the goat in the film is indeed Charlie. Robert Eggers Confirms His Nosferatu Remake Is Happening

We reported back in February that director Robert Eggers had plans to remake F.W. Murnau’s 1922 vampire film ‘Nosferatu’. Since then its been radio silence. Making us wonder if Eggers still has plans to remake the classic that is the unofficial adaption of ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’. It seems that he does. During a recent conversation with Indiewire, Eggers confirmed that the project is still happening [It’s shocking] to me. It feels ugly and blasphemous and egomaniacal and disgusting for a filmmaker in my place to do Nosferatu next,” Eggers admitted. “I was really planning on waiting a while, but that’s how fate shook out.” He continued. “Nosferatu has a very close, magical connection for me. Robert Eggers To Write And Direct The Remake Of Nosferatu

Robert Eggers, writer and director of the acclaimed film The Witch, is set to make a new film based on the 1922 silent masterpiece Nosferatu. The first vampire to ever be depicted on film will return to the silver screen via Eggers’ new version of the black and white classic. Jay Van Hoy and Lars Knudsen will serve as producers according to Deadline. There has been no release date announced. Eggers has another project to complete ahead of Nosferatu, a miniseries recounting the rise and fall of Russia’s mystic Rasputin. Eggers is also slatted to write and direct an upcoming medieval film titled The Knight, which Hoy and Knudsen are also producing.

The Witch’s Robert Eggers Set To Write And Direct Series About The Rise And Fall Of Rasputin

Robert Eggers’ The Witch debuted in theaters recently and has had a huge response from viewers and critics alike. Now, Eggers has moved on to his next project, another period piece. Eggers is set to both write and direct an upcoming miniseries about Grigori “The Mad Monk” Rasputin. Rasputin, born in 1869, is the infamous Russian mystic that became a trusted adviser to the Romanovs, the Russian Imperial family. Rasputin became indispensable to the family in all matters of both home and state. In Eggers’ six to eight episode mini series we will witness the rise of Rasputin to power and his murder in St. Petersburg. His influence grew so strong that many attempted to end his life. In 1916 they succeeded. Rasputin survived being stabbed, shot, strangled, shot again, all in the same night, before finally being drowned in the Neva River. The Romanovs were murdered only two years later. They were executed in Yekaterinburg, Russia by the Bolsheviks

In Honor Of The Witch – Real Witches From History

The Witch opens this weekend in theaters nation wide. In honor of the film’s release I have compiled a list of some of the most famous real witches in history. First, let me define what a witch is. According to the Oxford dictionary a witch is: a woman thought to have evil magic powers. Witches have classically been depicted as an unattractive, often old, evil woman in a black cape and pointed hat. Which simply isn’t true. Often women who were trained or gifted in healing were mistaken as evil. Let’s begin with one of the most famous witches to ever walk the earth, Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. Laveau has been depicted in everything from films to shows like American Horror Story: Coven as well as songs. Laveau was born a free black woman in the mid-1700s in New Orleans. People of all races and backgrounds came to Laveau for healing, spells and hexes. Laveau lived well into her nineties
