DVD Review: The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special is Frightfully Funny!

Robot Chicken, those pop culture skewering puppets turn their goofy gaze upon gut munching soap opera The Walking Dead in the appropriately titled The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special: Look Who’s Walking. Over the course we learn the true story of The Walking Dead as visitors to a TWD themed museum in the future are set straight by someone who knows the tale best (though they may want to do a special edition to change said character for…reasons). Anyway, when I say true-story I mean a series of short skits of varying levels of offensiveness (speaking of which, all of the F-bombs hat would be censored on Adult Swim are front and center here) and stupidity (the good kind, not the unbearable, obnoxious variety)…where most of the major storylines (as of October 2017) and characters are lampooned to admittedly hilarious effect…and there’s also a musical number or two as one does. Along with the twenty two minutes of non-stop laughs

10 Ways to Support Women in Horror Year Round

As Women in Horror Month draws to a close, so will the frequency of support for women in the genre, but it doesn’t have to be that way. The following are 10 ways you can continue supporting women in horror beyond the month of February. 1.) Actively seek out work by female, and female-identifying, horror creators, especially work from those who are new to you. Familiarizing yourself with more women in horror introduces you to a range of voices. If you don’t like one artist, you may like another. How will you know if you don’t observe them all? 2.) Support those creators by sharing their work with others. Chances are that if you haven’t heard of someone, other people might not have either. Share the love! Spread links to their work and invite friends to screenings or other events! 3.) Inspire and empower other women to work within the genre. The only way for the genre to continue growing

Part 1 of The X-Files Breakdown Seasons 1 – 3

The X-Files centers around two F.B.I. agents, Fox Mulder, the believer, and Dana Scully, the skeptic. The two spent 9 seasons and 2 major motion pictures investigating the strange and unexplained, all while hidden forces worked to impede their efforts. The X-Files was inspired by shows which featured elements of suspense and speculative fiction. The two could not be more different, Mulder, a firm believer in the paranormal searches for the truth hidden in the government all while continuing his search for his abducted sister, Samantha. Scully, spent years studying to be an MD before changing careers and joining the F.B.I. Scully looks at everything from a scientific standpoint and is originally sent to debunk Agents Mulders work. While she agrees with Mulder through much of the series that certain things can not be explained, her and Mulder’s reasonings always differ. The show offered multiple “monster-of-the-week” type episodes which were loosely based off “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “The Twilight Zone,” and

Horror Fuel’s X-Files Recap to Start January 9th

In honor of the X-Files revival, Fox Television had a pretty cool promotion running to honor a show whose pop culture impact has lasted nearly 22 years, “201 Days of the X-Files.” The promotion was done through social media and required fans to watch one episode a day, in order, until the series revival premier on January 24th. The Official X-Files Instagram and Twitter posted screen grabs with the season name and episode number for the day. While Fox was busy promoting the revival with posters, and teasers, some pretty neat fan art arose from the original “201 Days” promotion. Here is one of my favorites, provided by @201xfdoodles, where a fan drew a “doddle” of each episode. Even Agents Mulder and Scully (David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) had some fun engaging with fans and answering questions during certain episodes. __________________________________ Being a long time fan of The X-files, I decided to play along and re-watch the series.
