Just 5 months after Universal released the first teaser image of some of the stars of their upcoming new Dark Universe film franchise the duo of Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, hired to be the architects of the universe, have exited the project according to THR. The teaser included A-list actors like Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, and Russel Crowe and was meant to hook fans on the revival of characters like the Invisible Man, Wolf Man, Frankenstein, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Unfortunately, none of the planned remakes looks to still be alive and kicking. Universal even halted the filming of Bride of Frankenstein which had already begun production in London. Bill Condon recently brought Disney’s classic tale Beauty and the Beast to life, which has brought in over $1 billion at the box office. Now, he want to bring another classic to the big screen, the remake of Universal’s The Bride of Frankenstein. Deadline reports that Condon is currently in talks with Universal Studios to direct the remake of the 1935 black and white film. Alex Kurtzan and Chris Morgan are spearheading Universal’s new monster universe. They will also be serving as executive producers for the new version of Bride of Frankenstein, written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park). Kurtzman recently directed the new version of The Mummy which will be part of the

There have been many remakes and reboots of Frankenstein over the years, but the original has never been topped, in my opinion. Let’s hope the new film will do it justice. Variety is reporting that Javier Bardem is now in negotiations to star as Dr, Frankenstein’s monster, a role originally played by Boris Karloff in 1931. Bardem was also offered the role of Dr. Jekyll in the new The Mummy reboot, but passed. There is no word yet if Bardem will also appear in the Bride of Frankenstein, whose star has been named as Angelina Jolie. Bardem is a gifted actor who has starred in many
