Blu-ray Review: Sukiyaki Western Django (2007)

1880’s Japan, but it’s like the American old West. That’s the main conceit of the blazing insanity that is Takashi Miike’s Sukiyaki Western Django… a picture that has about as much to do with Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 epic Django as anyone of the four billion sequels-in-name-only that followed it. ‘Terrifier’ Star Joins The Horror Western ‘Spirit Reckoning’

Character actor David Howard Thorton, best known for his role as Art the Clown for the indie hit Terrifier, has joined the cast of Heart and Fire Productions and Spirit Reckoning LLC’s upcoming horror western Spirit Reckoning. Thorton is set to play the role of the Skull Cowboy who was once a human named Sam Conley. Sam was murdered alongside his family and brought back to life by an Indian Shaman who turned him into an avenging Skull Cowboy. Danzig Sinks His Teeth Into New Vampire Speghetti Western

Musician Glenn Danzig of Misfits has been staying between reunion shows and his new projects, a long-awaited album of Elvis Presley covers and a movie. That’s right Danzig is writing and directing his own film. Get this, it’s a “vampire Spaghetti Western”! A new post on Danzig’s official Facebook page today mentioned both projects. We know it’s a Spaghetti Western with Danzig in the director’s chair, and we know casting will soon begin. At this time that’s all that we know about the mysterious film. Don’t get his projects confused. Danzig’s vampire western is not the same project announced last year, an anthology based on his comic series Verotik.

Movie Review: Lasso (2018)

A bunch of old farts and their caretakers embark on a senior citizen field trip to the ol’ row-die-oh. After much carnival game ass-foolery, and ridin’ and ropin’ the sun sets and the murder biz begins, as the psychotic cow pokes behind the show change gears from lassoing to lacerating. Now it’s up to our heroes to survive the night and get the hell of that revoltin’ ranch! Lasso takes a simple premise; folks have to survive a horror show rodeo, and boy-oh-boy does it play it for everything it is worth! The setting, used to perfection, provides us with a veritable shit ton of unique kills (branding rods, prods, horseshoes, the eponymous lasso) all delivered with spot on practical effects that will surely satisfy gore hounds.
