Wednesday is upon us again my Little Monsters and with that our weekly celebration of a wonderful Woman of Horror. This week’s lovely lady just seems to have been born to be part of our beloved horror genre…almost as if she stepped right off the pages of a Gothic horror story. She’s a distinctive beauty whose facial expressions can effortlessly create a semblance of innocence or malevolence. Of course by now you know I am obviously speaking of the legendary Barbara Steele. Barbara hails from England, the birthplace of Gothic horror. More specifically, she was born in the Merseyside town of Birkenhead, just across the river from Liverpool. Barbara began honing her craft while studying at London’s Chelsea College of Arts, before moving on to study at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. She made her small and big screen debuts in the same year with an appearance on the BBC One series, Dial 999 and then with an uncredited part

Here we are, my Little Monsters, not even two full days away from Friday October 13th. We only experience a Friday the 13th in October every six or seven years, depending on whether it’s a leap year, so I figured I would take this opportunity to celebrate a wonderful Final Girl of the Friday the 13th franchise by offering up a prize to be given away on Friday the 13th. As horror fans we have all experienced, albeit vicariously, the ordeal required to survive Friday the 13th and be the Final Girl of her respective chapter. So let’s take a look back at the harrowing experience of one miss Ginny Fields. Friday the 13th Part 2 took us all back to Crystal Lake…well, to a camp near it actually. This is where we met Ginny Fields, who was played by Amy Steel. She was one out of a group of counselors, who were making preparations to a summer camp in

If you’ve come here today to see which of the many wonderful Women of Horror will be in the spotlight, I am sorry to say I have not chosen one for this Woman Crush Wednesday. The reason: I am currently cultivating a list to begin fresh with NEXT WEEK. In fact I already have the lovely lady for next Wednesday picked out. But as I continue building a roster of Scream Queens and Horror Mavens, I am interested in who your favorites are. You’re the readers, so of course I want to know. From any horror era or sub genre…let’s see some names folks! I want you to feel free to list some names either in the comments section that accompanies the article on Facebook or reply to the article on Twitter and tag it with @The_Real_T_Love. Oh, did I mention that there could possibly be a contest associated with the names of these actresses you all suggest? I didn’t?

Monique Dupree is a Newark, New Jersey native who is referred to as ‘Tha Original Gata’ and is affectionately known by many horror fans to be the First Black Scream Queen. She is a jack of all trades in the entertainment industry. The model, actress, producer, director, costume designer, musician, publisher, and pro-wrestler (just to name a few of her accomplishments) has been working in horror since 2005 and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. If you haven’t seen Monique Dupree’s work, you should. (Although you have certainly seen her brother – actor Tony Todd.) Fans of b-movies will appreciate her appearances in films such as Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned where she plays ‘Emerald – the demon boobie vampire’. (…Not kidding. That’s how it’s listed on IMDB.) This talented woman has six films set for release in 2015, four of which are in the horror genre. Needless to say, if you’d like to check

Jennifer Chambers Lynch is a writer, director, producer, actress and more! Her most notable horror release which is currently out is Chained, a 2012 horror film about a taxi driver who kidnaps women and murders them. The story centers around a young man he keeps after kidnapping the boy and his mother. The driver hopes to raise the boy as his protege. Her 2010 film Hisss was intended by her to be a love story, but ended up being presented as a horror film in the editing stages. (This prompted the writer/director to disown the piece, but we’ll still count it towards her horror contribution count!) More recently, Lynch has directed on The Walking Dead and she currently has a film entitled XX which is in pre-production stages. XX is set for release in 2016 and is to be an anthology of female-driven horror movie segments. Sounds exciting!
