Game Review: ‘Darkestville Castle’

It’s getting to that point in summer where I’m tired of the heat and ready for the cool airs of autumn which only means one thing…HALLOWEEN IS COMING! Alas, it’s only August and that means I have to wait… that’s until the awesome ghouls at Epic Llama, and Buka Entertainment brought a little bit of Halloween early with their point and click adventure Darkestville Castle. In Darkestville Castle players take on the role of a demon named Cid who lives in the village of Darkestville. Being the only demon in town, Cid goes around the terrorizes the locals every night for his amusement till one night he inadvertently released a hoard of demons onto the village and in the process lost his castle. Now onto the game itself! The controls in Darkestville Castle is pretty basic, you move the cursor around with the joystick on your controller and press the button that usually acts as your action button. You can

Game Review: ‘Maid Of Sker’

A big thanks to the hardworking folks over at Wales Interactive for allowing me the opportunity to try out their first-person horror game, Maid of Sker (pronounced Scar)! In Maid of Sker, you play as Thomas, a songwriter, who goes to Hotel Sker to find his wife Elisabeth who is forced to be the new “Maid of Sker” after the original, her mother, died. After arriving, Thomas quickly learns that Elisabeth is being used as a tool in a cult ritual that needs her to sing in traditional Welsh Gaelic to appease something that Elisabeth’s family has kept secret. Onto the game itself. The game heavily relies on sound as it’s suggested that you wear headphones or play with the volume high up. The only downside is there’s way too much ambiance noise, and the player’s footsteps get annoying pretty fast. The music is pretty good, especially the traditional Welsh ones, but at times the music is intense when there’s

‘Destroy All Humans!’ Is One Giant Step On Mankind’s Boredom!

Black Forest Games and THQ Nordic have given me the chance to relive a part of my gaming past with the revamped Destroy All Humans! that surely will gain a bigger audience full of old and new fans. Some brief history of Destroy All Humans!, the game came out in 2005 from Pandemic Studios and THQ(before the name change) that was a nod to the cold war era alien invasion films and comics of the 1950s that also parodied 1950’s society that mirrored attitudes in the US at the time in ’05. I played and loved the hell out of that game back in the day, so when it was announced they were revamping it, I had to see if it held up. Destroy All Humans! is about an alien named Cryptosporidium-137, or Crypto, a clone, is tasked to go to earth to harvest human brainstems that contain DNA of their species to help further their cloning which is how

Never Before Played Level Coming To ‘Destroy All Humans!’

As our Furon overlord’s liberation approaches, old and new fans alike are no doubt getting excited to get their monkey paws on a copy of Destroy All Humans! set to arrive peacefully to our planet on Earth-date July 28, 2020, but more excited news is here about the remake/reboot of the game, it will include a never before seen or played mission called “The Wrong Stuff”. The primitive simians at THQ Nordic and Black Forest Games have carefully restored the lost level of the game after finding it foolishly hidden in the archives and have included it in the middle of the game! This was a foolish attempt to besmirch our Furon friends and cover Crypto-137’s attempts to peacefully bridge the gap between the Human race and the superior Furon Empire, WHEN WILL THE LIES END! *The writer of this article wishes to inform you that everything he has written is from his own gross primitive mouth and was in

Game Review: ‘Neversong’

Serenity Forge and Atmos Games were awesome enough to let me check out their 2D Platformer Neversong. Neversong is a remake/sequel to Once upon a coma. Players take on the role of a boy named Peet who fell into a coma after seeing his best friend Wren being kidnapped by a mysterious figure known as Dr.Smile. Peet awakens to find himself in a nightmare world where something is wrong with the adults after they looked for him and Wren in the asylum the two youngsters wandered into. Now onto the game itself. When it comes to the controls, it’s so limited that you master it within the first minute of gameplay. Speaking of gameplay, it’s actually quite fun. I’m not big when it comes to puzzles and platformers but Neversong made it quite unique and not very frustrating. Sound; the sound mixing when it comes to cinematics could use some tweaking as it’s a bit louder than the rest of
