“Zombi-U” was a rogue like survival horror game that had you surviving in a zombie apocalypse in London, England. The twist though was that there was nothing special about your character, every time you died you would not re-spawn but become a brand new character and with your new character you would have to trek back to where you last died, kill the now zombified character you just were, collect your things and continue on surviving in the zombie apocalypse. Whether or not there was an actual story to it I’m unsure of but I will get to that later. “Zombie-U” was released exclusively as a Wii-U launch title until now where Ubisoft has released a port of the game to Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC and has aptly named it “Zombi”. It is available now for $19.99 and includes ungraded graphics and a brand new overhaul for new-gen and PC players. I actually own the Wii-U version of

Keyboard Warriors A bane of social media is the “Inspirational Tweeter.” This is the person whose life is going so well, they feel the need to tell you how you too can find the happiness they have. They’re a digital Hallmark Card, the cyber chicken soup for the soul. It’s amazing how much annoyance can be packed into 140 characters. Another facet is the “Hipster Movie Reviewer.” These are the folks (usually male) with a blog or You Tube Channel who think they know about movies. Some are ballsy enough to take on real reviewers like Scott Weinberg and tell THEM how they’re wrong or “set them straight” especially when it comes to super hero or Adam Sandler films. These “reviewers” usually have little production value. The Summer of the Dinosaur Dinosaurs clobbered the combined super hero talents of The Avengers. They also handed Schwarzenegger his T-800 ass. Interestingly all three films are bred from the same cynical experiment that might have started in JJ Abrams’s lab…repackaging. Cynema has evolved or been upgraded much like Arnie’s T800 at the end of the latest Terminator franchise. My definition of Cynema says that a movie is made deliberately bad even if the filmmakers have the means to do it better. In the case of Jurassic World, Terminator Genysis and Star Trek: Into Darkness they are beautifully produced films, but all the more deceptive. These films all lack a central thing: a well done script. All three of these films are not unfolding stories, but rather set pieces stitched together with basic dialogue and character development to push things toward the next set piece. The argument could be made, that in a few years, the need for directors and

Norman Reedus A.K.A Daryl from “The Walking Dead” is making a return to the video game spectrum this year with Next Games “The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land”. Announced last year by AMC “No Man’s Land” is a mobile action adventure game with RPG and strategy elements. Set in “The Walking Dead” universe, it has you taking control of a group of survivors and you must help them survive the zombie apocalypse with the help of Daryl who will indeed be voiced by Norman Reedus. New game play was officially revealed today in a short trailer and from what I saw it’s easy to see that Next Games (the developers) are huge fans of “The Walking Dead” with even the CEO of Next Games Teemu Huutanen stating “We are very excited about the momentous opportunity to bring one of the most adored TV shows into the mobile realm in collaboration with our partner AMC, the creators of the TV series”.

After weeks of delay I was finally able to finish Telltale’s second season of their award winning “The Walking Dead” series and after years of avoiding spoilers I was able to see if this game was up to par or better than it’s predecessor and well long story short; it’s good but not as good. Season 2 picks up a couple of months after the events of Season 1 and through a series of unfortunate events Clementine, the young girl we had to take care of in the 1st season is now older, mature and most importantly exposed to the horrors of living in a zombie apocalypse. She ends up with a new group of survivors with a shady past and together embark on a trip to head north and hope that the winter is too much for the dead. Story wise Season 2 is very strong with plenty of twists and difficult decisions unfortunately most of these choices and

Friends, regular readers, and strangers who were drawn here by the presence of the word “giveaway” in the post title, it is my pleasure to announce that today we will be launching a giveaway of two books I’ve read and reviewed right here on Zombie Apocalypse Defense Force. Writer Joseph ‘Zombie’ Zuko and his wonderful wife have graciously offered up a copy of both The Infected: Jim’s First Day and The Infected: Karen’s First Day for one of our lucky readers! (I’ve linked the reviews for your convenience, just in case you missed them earlier.) The series is excellent! Zuko is a fantastic storyteller who manages to intermingle character development, heartbreaking sentiments, along with gore and action sequences. If you’re a zombie fan and have been looking for a thrilling read, then you’ve come to the right place, but if you aren’t convinced here are the book descriptions of these 4.5 and 5 star rated reads: The Infected: Jim’s First

Zombie Fallout by Mark Tufo is a highly rated book which begins an 8 volume series of the same name. The series has 4.4 of 5 stars, so I went in expecting good things. This is what I found… Book Description: It was a flu season like no other. With the H1N1 virus running rampant throughout the country, people lined up in droves to try and attain one of the coveted vaccines. What was not known was the effect this largely untested, rushed to market, inoculation was to have on the unsuspecting throngs. Within days, feverish folk throughout the country convulsed, collapsed, and died, only to be reborn. With a taste for brains, blood, and bodies, these modern-day zombies scoured the lands for their next meal. Overnight the country became a killing ground for the hordes of zombies that ravaged the land. This is the story of Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends: a band of ordinary people trying

You may remember a while back that I reviewed The Infected: Jim’s First Day by Joseph ‘Zombie’ Zuko. The sequel to this book, The Infected: Karen’s First Day is available TODAY 6/13/15 through Amazon. Mr. Zuko was generous enough to send me a copy of the book prior to its release so I could share the details with all of you! Book Description: Raising kids is tough. Keeping them alive as the zombie apocalypse begins is tougher. But that’s exactly what stay-at-home mom Karen needs to do: fight fiercely to keep her young daughters safe as her husband Jim battles his way across the city, so they can escape the carnage together. On the worst day of her life, Karen finds that she will do anything to protect her family, and that the line between life and death has teeth. Originality & Entertainment: 5/5 & 5/5 Unless I’ve been reading books in the wrong circles, I’m fairly certain that I

Love and Decay Volume #1 (Episodes 1-6 of the first season) by Rachel Higginson is a book I have been meaning to read for a while. It was recommended to me months ago by a reader during Women in Horror month and I’m just now getting the chance to circle back around to it. As of this post, the book is available for free on Kindle. (I seem to plug kindle a lot, but it’s what I use and I love the fact that I can read books online or on my cell phone with the FREE Kindle Reading App. If you like another medium feel free to recommend it in the comments or to me on Twitter!) The good news with this series is that it is already several volumes in the making, which means that unless you have a huge reading appetite you won’t have to wait a long time for the next installment. …Not unless you get

THEM Episode 1 of Season 1 by M.D. Massey is a self described “paranormal post-apocalyptic thrill ride”. As with Champagne Jackson Kicks Zombie Ass, THEM immediately had some large shoes to fill by virtue of its tagline and book description. Description: THEM: Season 1, Episode 1 Scratch Sullivan is a professional monster hunter eking out a living after the zombie apocalypse. Z hunter, some would say… but he hunts more than just zombies. You see, there are deadlier predators roaming the badlands, where the fallout and some very nasty inhabitants have made it impossible for all but the bravest and most foolhardy to venture. Thing is, Scratch is happy enough with the odd job killing THEM and occasionally shacking up with his on and off girlfriend, Kara. But when a powerful vampire tips him off to a potential invasion of werewolves and zombies into the safe zone he protects, he’s forced to head straight into the heart of the deadlands
