The producers that brought us “The Purge” and “Paranormal Activity”, have brought us “Mercy”.  This supernatural film revolves around George, a young boy with the ability to see what most can’t, spirits. When George’s beloved Grandmother falls ill from a stroke he, his brother and his mom move to the Grandmother’s house in the country to take care of her. The stroke is the least of his family’s problems. When you make a deal with a demon bad things tend to happen. Grandma is not who she once was.

The interaction between George’s character and the character of his Grandmother played by Shirley Knight (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) made the movie kind of sweet but creepy at the same time. The characters have a very strange and twisted family dynamic. The 150 year old house they are living in is the same one that their grandfather committed suicide in, by taking an ax to his own head. I really wanted to make a “splitting head ache” joke but I’ll refrain.

Director Peter Cornell did a great job with “Mercy”. Chandler Riggs, who plays George, is already famous for his role as Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead. Chandler is an extremely talented young actor and I can not wait to see what his future holds. Other members of the greatcast includes Dylan McDermott (American Horry Story), Frances O’Conner (The Hunter) and Mark Duplass (The League).
