Mary Harron is this week’s featured Women in Horror spotlight recipient. This woman has written and directed a variety of horror films, both classic and contemporary. She is the creative voice behind the screenplay for American Psycho (2000), the film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel about serial killer Patrick Bateman. She also went on to direct the film. Her knack for writing and directing horror was further exemplified with her work on the 2011 release, The Moth Diaries. Since then she has worked on a variety of horror themed (or very close to horror) television projects, ranging from NBC’s Constantine to FOX’s The Following.
Mary Harron’s career has spanned over 25 years, with a variety of short film, television, and feature film projects. I look forward to seeing where else it takes her.
