A couple with three young children thought they had purchased their $1.3M dream home in Westfield, New Jersey, but what should have been a happy time in their lives, has turned into a real nightmare. The family has been driven out by some psycho who is sending terrifying letters to the family, someone who refers to themselves as “The Watcher”. It may sound like the plot of a horror movie, but for this family, it’s very real. The letters they have received includes statements like “I was put in charge of watching and waiting for its second coming.” and  “I asked the [previous owners] to bring me young blood … once I know their names, I will call to them and draw them to me.” The letters have continued to become more disturbing with statements like “I am pleased to know your names now and the name of the young blood you have brought to me,” it continues “Who has the bedrooms facing the street? I’ll know as soon as you move in … it will help me to know who is in which bedroom, then I can plan better.” and “Have they found out what’s in the walls yet?” So far the police have not discovered who “The Watcher” is. The family has fled the beautiful home.

There is some good news for the family, they are being swarmed by movie companies in a race to purchase the rights to their story and make a movie based on their story first. James Wan (Insidious) and Bryan Bertino (The Strangers) are both involved with several packages being shopped around. The story is being worked on by Blumhouse Productions, Dimension Films, Universal and New Line Cinema, each working on movie ideas from different points of view.
