Mark Pedowitz, the network head of The CW,  has confirmed that The CW in indeed developing a ‘Friday the 13th’ series based on the franchise. Deadline reported that Craig Van Sickle and Steve Mitchell, creators of ‘The Pretender’ series, will be writing the script for the new series.

The new ‘Friday the 13th’ series that came about last year when Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films, along with Crystal Lake Entertainment, signed a deal to produce the hour-long dramatic series based on the franchise’s characters and locations. Sean S. Cunningham, who was the head of the original 1980 movie, will be serving as executive producer of the show.

There are few details about the possible plot, but it has been said that the series will delve into the characters background and relationships.
