Yesterday when news broke that TNT and M. Night Shyamalan were reviving the beloved anthology series Tales from the Crypt we were all excited. Unfortunately, today that excitement turned to disappointment. We learned via Bloody-Disgusting that the new series and the original will only have a name in common. The Crypt Keeper will not be appearing, which is strange considering that he is a huge part of the series. Instead, they are opting for a different host (because HBO still owns the rights to the Crypt Keeper). The new host will be an old man in a hooded robe, sitting by a fire.

The lack of our favorite creepy host is not the only difference between the shows. The series will consist of thirteen episodes with a  similar feel as American Horror Story. It will be set in New Orleans and will feature Voodoo. The first season will not feature any of the stories from the original comics. The writers behind Hemlock Grove will be penning the scripts for TNT’s version of Tales from the Crypt.
