Tom Cruise Will Star In Universal’s The Mummy Reboot

For months we have been hearing hints and rumors about Universal’s plan to reboot all of their classic monster films for a new shared universe. We can now officially report that Tom Cruise in now attached to Universal’s The Mummy reboot.

Cruise will star along side Sofia Boutella, who has been cast as the mummy, originally played by Boris Karloff. Alex Kurtzman will be directing the reboot, based on the new script penned by Jon Spaihts. The Mummy will open in theaters on June 9th, 2017.

The new universe will be a  Marvel-style set up. There are already plans in place to remake The Bride of Frankenstein, which they hope Angelina Jolie-Pitt will star in. They also intend to reboot Van HelsingThe Creature from the Black Lagoon  and The Wolf Man.
