Last month when we reported that William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist was being adapted for TV, and horror fans responded with a mix of anger, disappointment, and disbelief. The Exorcist was thought to be the one movie that no one would dare add to the reboot/remake list taking has claimed so many in the genre, but we were wrong.
Fox has put the script for their adaption in the hands of Fantastic Four scribe Jeremy Slayer. Today we have learned that Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) has signed on to direct the series’ pilot.
The hour long pilot has been described as a modern reinvention inspired by Blatty’s novel, which the film was based on. It’s said to be a physiological thriller that follows two men both working to tackle one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession.
