The new TV spot for The Purge: Election Year fits in perfectly with current political race, so much so that it could easily be mistaken for a real PSA like the ones we are currently being bombarded with.
The Purge: Election Year picks up two years after the events of The Purge: Anarchy. Frank Grillo will reprise his role as Leo Barnes. Barnes now serves as head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell). Barnes’ mission is to protect Senator Roan during her run for president, as well as to keep her safe during the annual Purge. When the two are betrayed and forced onto the streets of Washington D.C. on the night on the Purge, they must fight to stay alive until dawn or meet the same fate as those less fortunate.
Universal’s Election Year is under the control of director James DeMonaco. Blumhouse Productions (Insidious) will produce along side Platinum Dunes (Friday the 13th) once again. Be prepared, this year The Purge begins on July 4th.
