Horror icons Robert Englund (A Nightmare of Elm Street) and Lin Shaye (Insidious) will be starring in the indie horror thriller The Midnight Man, from director Travis Z. (Cabin Fever). The Midnight Man is being produced by Gussi Fims and Zeal Media and has already begun filming.
The Midnight Man is based on a on an old Pagan ritual known as “The Midnight Game”. The film also serves as a remake of the low budget film by Rob Kennedy. by the same name, released in 2013. The Midnight Man co-stars Grayson Gabriel (Stan Helsing), Keenan Lehmana (Silent Night), Summer Howell (Curse of Chucky), Meredith Rose (Jurassic World), Kyle Strauts (The Cabin in the Woods), Gabrielle Haugh (Headlock) and Michael Sirow (Darkroom).
In the film a girl plays a game with her friends that summons a creature known as “The Midnight Man” . The entity uses the friends’ worst fears against them.
This is not the first time Englund and Shaye have worked together. The two both co-starred in the 2005 horror-comedy 2001 Maniacs, directed by Tim Sullivan. Englund starred as the mayor of what seems to be a backwoods town stuck in the time of the Civil War. Shaye played the role of “Granny Boone” a less than elegant matriarch of the town. When a group of collage students get lost on their way to Spring Break, they find themselves in the small town. And they’re just in time for a celebration and the annual BBQ, but they might not like what’s on the menu, them.
