R. Paul Wilson, who you may know from the long-running series Real Hustle on BBC, is now running a Kickstarter campaign for his film Darkfall, which he both wrote and will be directing.
What makes Darkfall unique ? Wilson will be combining magic and practical effects to create a film like we have never seen before.
From the Press Release:
“Darkfall: Death Goes Live will use absolutely no CGI,” Wilson states in his Kickstarter campaign. “Everything seen on the screen will be the result of practical effects, actual magic and the art of illusion. This is a contemporary film that pays homage to fine classic techniques.”
“Darkfall will have plenty of violence and bloodshed, but it won’t be gratuitous,” Wilson continues. “We will combine an excellent story line, believable characters, talented cast, and then add amazing effects, all shot on film. When our characters find themselves in a predicament which worsens, concern turns to panic, and terror. For me, the test for success will be if viewers care enough about the characters to immerse themselves in the film, with accelerating heartbeats. That’s what causes true horror. I think we’ll have that here.”
This psychological thriller opens with a bloody, unexplained massacre in a Glasgow apartment. Police question a strange young woman but they can’t pin anything on her. An enterprising television network offers the woman a deal – to conduct a séance in an abandoned sanitarium; in exchange the network will televise the a séance live, and add a few celebrities. She says yes, but it might not go the way she had hoped. The events unfold live across the internet in front of millions.
