Godzilla 2 has lost its director. Garth Edwards has departed from the sequel to 2014’s giant lizard film only a few days after Warner Bros. delayed Godzilla 2, which has been pushed back to 2019. Edwards parted on friendly terms. Edwards now has plans to focus on several smaller projects once he wraps filming for Star Wars: Rogue One, Deadline reports.
Godzilla 2 will feature a new adversary for the “Lizard King”. And will lay the groundwork for his showdown with King Kong in 2020. The director’s chair won’t be empty long. Plenty of directors will jumping at the chance to enter Warner Bros’ world of giants.
