One of Guillermo del Toro’s current projects is the animated Netflix original series Trollhunters. Trollhunters will bring together audiences of all ages in a fantastic world created and executive produced by Del Toro, based on his book by the same name.
Variety has reported that Del Toro announced his first two cast members at the Annecy Festival in France yesterday. Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Blade II), who has starred in several of Del Toro’s projects, has joined the cast alongside Kelsey Grammer (Frasier Cheers) and Anton Yelchin (Green Room, Burying the Ex).
The series follows a tale of two worlds that collide. Set in the suburb of Arcadia, Jim (Yechin), a teenage boy, and his two best friends discover a world hidden beneath their hometown where a battle is being waged between good trolls and bad trolls. Jim’s world will be forever impacted by who wins the battle. Grammer lends his voice to Blinky, a kind-hearted troll who builds a friendship with Jim. Perlman will play Bular, an ill-spirited troll who targets Jim and his friends.
The series is produced by DreamWorks Animation, Marc Guggenheim, and Guillermo del Toro, with Christina Steinberg, Dan Hageman, Kevin Hageman, and Chad Hammes serving as executive producers.
Trollhunters will premiere on Netflix this December.
