Fans were crushed when Constantine, starring Matt Ryan, was canceled and have not given up hopes that the series might be revived. Today, we do have a little good news. No, sadly, there has been no action to bring back the series we loved so much, but we will see Ryan reprise his role in animated form. Constantine will be making his film debut in the upcoming Justice League Dark animated film, SuperHero Hype reports.
I really wanted to jump into this project to play Constantine in a different context. Around some of the iconic that are in the DC Dark World,” Ryan stated.
Justice League Dark features Zatanna (Camilla Luddington), Deadman (Nucholas Turturro) and Batman (Jason O’Mara). Swamp Thing and Black Orchid will also appear, but casting for the two characters has not been announced at this point. Justice League Dark will arrive on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD this Fall.
Constantine made a guest appearance on Arrow‘s fourth season, but was mentioned in episodes until the end of the season which gives us hope that we may see him on the show again. The CW has picked up the streaming rights to Constantine’s only season and the El Rey network obtained rights to air the first season. With all the interest in the Hellblazer character, hopefully a network will realize the series true worth and deliver a season 2.
