The monster-action film ‘The Great Wall’ will be arriving in 3D this February. The brand new international trailer is here in all of its 9-minute-long glory. Unfortunately, the trailer is not in English, but you will see Matt Damon and the rest of the cast in action. You will also get your first glimpse at the monsters that those on the wall must face.

In the film Damon stars as British warrior in 15th century China. When Damon’s character comes across the massive wall being built. Soon he comes to understand that it is not just to keep the Mongols out. There is something more dangerous out there and it is coming in hordes.

The cast for this potentially epic film includes William Defoe, Pedro Pascal, Andy Lau, Tian Jing, Eddie Peng, Numan Acar, Kenny Lin, Hanyu Zhang, Lu Han, Cheaney Chen and Xuan Huang. The screenplay was penned by Tony GilroyCarlo Bernard, and Doug Miro, based on the story by Max Brooks and Thomas Tull.

Director Yimou Zhang (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) spoke with Entertainment Weekly a few months ago and had this to say:

“The film takes place about 1,000 years ago. At its core, it is a period piece and an action film. The fantasy element does play a major role because of the monsters. But, what makes our film unique is that these are ancient Chinese monsters. Even though it’s a fantasy movie, we filmed it in a very realistic way. We want it to feel like the events actually happened. Other than the monster, all aspects of this film are backed by either scientific or historical research.”

‘The Great Wall’ is one monster movie you are going to want to see on the big screen. It will arrive in theaters on February 17, 2017.
