Yesterday, we reported that John Carpenter, who is on as executive producer, unveiled not only the names of the writers, the director, but the release date for the new ‘Halloween’ movie as well. Today, we have more details.
Funny man Danny McBride (Pineapple Express) will co-write the new script along with David Gordon Green, who worked with McBride on ‘Pineapple Express’ and other projects. Green will also be in the director’s chair for the film.
So, what can we expect? While speaking with CinemaBlend, McBride revealed more details about ‘Halloween’.
You know, it’s not a remake. It’s actually, it’s gonna continue to story of Michael Myers in a really grounded way. And for our mythology, we’re focusing mainly in the first two movies and what that sets up and then where the story can go from there.” McBride continued. “Green and I are definitely going to [do] a straight-up horror. Halloween has always been one of my favorite movies of all time. There’s a simplicity and and efficiency to that first one that I think allows the movies just to be scary as hell. And so Green and I, our approach is to get back to that.
Thank god it’s not a remake, am I right?
The release date is not as far off as you might think it would be. Michael Myers will be stalking viewers in theaters on October 19, 2018.
Jason Blum of Blumhouse, Malek Akkad, Trancas International Films, and Miramax will produce the new ‘Halloween’. John Carpenter will executive produce along with McBride and Green who will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.
