When Erik Feig launched The Arena with a mission to build massive, global event-action franchises, a partnership with Keanu Reeves seemed like a match made in cinematic heaven. That anticipation has now materialized into a major package deal. The Arena has preemptively acquired the rights to the film adaptation of Oliver Lowe’s (Casey Stegman) upcoming novel, Kill Current: A Jon Hendricks Thriller, with Reeves set to star. The novel is slated for publication by Zando in May 2027. Kill Current marks the debut entry in a planned multi-book thriller series centered on Jon Hendricks, Deadline reports.
A Revenge-Driven Race Across the Globe
It follows a burned-out CIA officer dragged back into the deadly world of espionage after the tragic loss of his protégé. Driven by vengeance, Hendricks finds himself thrust into a globe-spanning conspiracy. It’s filled with treacherous alliances and a frantic race to secure the world’s most valuable assets.
Launching a New Era for Two Dragonflies
However, in addition to starring in the film, Reeves will produce alongside Alexandra Grant under their production banner, Two Dragonflies. The project stands as the flagship release for the previously unannounced company. Molly Stern and her publisher, Zando, are attached as executive producers. To celebrate the announcement, The Arena has released an initial teaser trailer offering a first look at the high-stakes project.
Reeves’ Impressive Career

2000s: Sci-Fi & Dark Noir
After pioneering cyberpunk in The Matrix trilogy (1999–2003), he moved into darker territory with The Watcher (2000), the supernatural noir Constantine (2005), and Street Kings (2008).
2010s–Present: Neo-Noir Legacy
However, Reeves redefined the modern thriller with the John Wick franchise (2014–present), setting a new standard for practical stuntwork and tactical fight choreography.
