Draw your pentagrams and double-check your doors because FX‘s iconic anthology series is officially back to reign supreme over spook season. Having logged over 700 million hours streamed globally and snagged more than 100 Emmy nominations since its debut in 2011, “American Horror Story” is leaning directly into the genre’s most terrifying number.
The first trailer for Season 13 has arrived, and fans will be thrilled. We get a glimpse of the series’ best characters coming together. And it looks absolutely fantastic!
Unlucky Number 13 Drops Just in Time for Halloween
To celebrate a baker’s dozen of frights, this milestone installment features 13 half-hour episodes, served up on a fast-paced release schedule. The season kicks off with a feast for horror addicts, dropping three episodes in week one and another three in week two. From there, fans get back-to-back weekly episodes every Thursday night, culminating in a dramatic finale on October 29—just in time to cap off your Halloween festivities. While Ryan Murphy and company are keeping exact plot specifics locked away in a murder-house basement, the newly dropped teaser trailer and official poster confirm the ultimate fan-service twist: a massive roster of franchise royalty returning to reprise their most iconic roles.
The Holy Trinity and Original Coven Royalty Assemble
Leading the charge of returning legends is the ultimate AHS power duo, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters. Paulson is dusting off her massive repertoire to step back into the shoes of fan favorites like medium Billie Dean Howard, intrepid reporter Lana Winters, Supreme witch Cordelia Goode, and tragic performer Bette and Dot Tattler. Peters matches that chameleon energy by resurrecting the infamous Tate Langdon, rubber-suited nightmare James Patrick March, and terrifying cult mastermind Kai Anderson.
Joining them is the original queen of the franchise herself, Jessica Lange, making a triumphant return alongside fellow powerhouse heavyweights Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett. Fans can prepare for pure chaotic magic as Lange revisits character powerhouses like Constance Langdon and Fiona Goode. At the same time, Bates steps back into the brutal corsets of Delphine LaLaurie and Iris. Bassett returns, bringing her unmatched posture to voodoo queen Marie Laveau and Ramona Royale. At the same time, the divine Frances Conroy glides back onto the screen to revive the iconic Myrtle Snow and the haunting Moira O’Hara.
Fan-Favorite Witches, Final Girls, and Creature Royalty
The nostalgic roll call does not stop with the original lineup. Franchise mainstays Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, and Leslie Grossman are back to bring their signature sharp-tongued drama, with Roberts revisiting Supreme contender Madison Montgomery and final girl Brooke Thompson. Beloved ensemble icons Gabourey Sidibe and Jamie Brewer return to bring back Queenie and Nan, while horror icon John Carroll Lynch suit up to haunt our dreams once more as Twisty the Clown and Mr. Jingles.
Rounding out this star-studded nightmare are standout character actors including Zach Villa, Seth Gabel, Mat Fraser, Joey Pollari, and Mena Suvari returning as the tragic Black Dahlia.
The Ultimate Homage to a Modern Horror Dynasty
Brought to life by creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, executive producers include Ned Martel, Charlie Carver, Eric Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Tanase Popa, Crystle Roberson Dorsey, Jennifer Salt, and Tim Minear.
