Three men are pitted against each other in a tale of greed and paranoia in Keepers, from director Kristoffer Nyholm. Today, we have a first look at the film starring Gerard Butler, Peter Mullan, and newcomer Conner Swindells.

Gerard Butler filming (Keepers) 5th OF April 2017 An Arbroath lighthouse keeper whose death is surrounded in mystery is set to be portrayed by Hollywood A-lister Gerard Butler in a new film. Butler will play James Ducat, who was one of three men to vanish without a trace from the island of Eilean Mor in the Outer Hebrides in 1900. Ducat, a 43-year-old with more than 20 years’ experience in lighthouse keeping, had arrived on the deserted island to man the lighthouse with two other men, Thomas Marshall and Donald McArthur. Written by Celyn Jones and Joe Bone, Keepers follows three lighthouse keepers on their six-week shift on an uninhabited island twenty miles from the rugged Scottish coast. As Thomas (Mullan), James (Butler), and Donald (Swindells) settle into their usual, solitary routines, something unexpected and potentially life-changing occurs – they stumble upon something that isn’t theirs to keep. Where did it come from? Who does it belong to? A boat appears in the distance that might hold the answer to these questions.
What follows is a tense battle for survival as personal greed replaces loyalty – and fed by isolation and paranoia, three honest men are led down the path to destruction.
The film was inspired the real-life Flannan Isle mystery of three lighthouse keepers who disappeared, never to be seen again. On December 15, 1900 the lighthouse house was found abandoned. Inside, one chair was found overturned, but everything else was in it’s place except for a missing set of rain gear.
International rights for Keepers is being handled by Protagonist Pictures while CAA represents the thriller’s domestic rights.
