We reported back in March that Godzilla vs. Kong was preparing to to enter production. Today, we learned, via THR, that the giant monster movie has found its director, Adam Wingard.
Wingard has several successful films over the past few years including Blair Witch, The Guest, V/H/S, and You’re Next. He was also in the director’s chair for Netflix’s upcoming adaption of Death Note.
Godzilla vs. Kong will be another part of Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment’s monster universe that began with 2014’s Godzilla followed by Kong: Skull Island, and the upcoming sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters, starring Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler and Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown.
In March a writer’s room was set up to pen the script headed by Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean). Patrick McKay, J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), Lindsey Beer, Cat Vasko, T.S. Nowlin, Jack Pagien and Michael Sraczynski filled out the writing team for Godzilla: King of the Monsters which is set to be released on May 22, 2020.
