After becoming the most viewed trailer in a single day with over 197 Million(!) hits, it’s perhaps not surprising that IT looks to be a huge box office hit. The Dark Tower flopping led to some fears about another major Stephen King project’s prospects, but it now seems those fears were unfounded with IT projected to bring in over $50 Million on its opening weekend.

For a year that’s been very light on theatrical horror (other than the stellar Get Out and The Belko Experiment) IT is a welcome presence.
The hype machine for this film has been going into overtime, and with only a few weeks left until release it’s reached a fever pitch. Quality wise, rather the film will float above its detractors to critical praise, or crash to the ground like a balloons popped by a critics needle remains to be seen. But even if it disappoints King fans, this film is going to make a lot of money. Looks like Pennywise might be about to trade out those ratty old clown duds for a pimp suit.
