Zac Efron’s further attempts to break into serious acting will continue with “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile” where he will portray serial killer Ted Bundy. While the biopic might win the “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” Award for overlong movie title, the idea of Efron as Bundy is an interesting one. The two share a quiet confidence and good looks, if not (as far as we know!) the same murderous desires.
The production got a big boost of credibility today with the announcement that Academy Award nominee John Malkovich would be joining the cast. As of now there’s no announcement as to who Malkovich will play, but the very precense of the veteran thespian give’s the production a significant boost.
Personally I’m very conflicted on these kind of films; as much as I find serial killers and serial killer culture…interesting…portraying them as a kind of folk hero, something many biopics and documentaries on the subject have done, seems a rather bad idea. Got to say though, I can’t wait to see Troy from the Disney Channel’s portrayal of one of histories most evil men.
