The reboot of the ‘Charmed’ series has announced its first cast member, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor Darius Blain who will be playing Galvin, the perfect boyfriend, and an aspiring filmmaker waiting for his first big break, Deadline reports.
Written by Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin, the revamped series centers on three sisters who discover they are witches. “Between vanquishing demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”
The original ‘Charmed’ series, created by Constance M. Burge, ran from 1998 to 2006 and has a huge following. The show starred Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Shannen Doherty, and Brian Krause. It followed three sisters who use their witchy powers to fight evil while coping with loss, a new sister, and love.
Blain’s most recent role was as Kevin Hart’s younger self, Fridge, in Sony’s blockbuster film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which has grossed over $883 million in the box office worldwide so far.
‘Charmed’ will be airing on The CW once again. Ben Silverman and Ben Silberling will direct. Urman, O’Toole, and Rardin will be serving as executive producers.
