Director Andy Muschietti is gearing up for the sequel to last year’s blockbuster, his adaption of Stephen King’s IT. In fact, the casting process has begun to find the adult versions of the first film’s child stars.
News comes today via Variety that Jessica Chastain is currently in negotiations to star in the role of Beverly, played in the first film by Sophia Lillis.
Chastain has starred in many films including Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty, Molly’s Game, and in the upcoming film X-Men: Dark Phoenix which will be out later this year.
Gary Dauberman returns to write the sequel in which we will see the members of the “Loser’s Club” reunite as adults and face-off against Pennywise once more. Bill Skarsgard is expected to reprise his character Pennywise.
Production is set to begin this summer with IT Part II opening in theaters on September 6, 2019.
