New details have emerged for Ex Machina director Alex Garland’s upcoming sci-fi series “Devs” on the heels of the opening weekend of his film Annihilation.
During a recent interview with Collider, he discussed the 8-part series.

[It’s titled] Devs, as in Developers,” Garland told the site. “It’s about a particular aspect of technology at the moment which is to do with very, very big data and very powerful processing power, and what can happen when you put the two things together. It’s set in San Francisco… a sort of tech story.” Garland continued.” If they (FX) want to carry it on, I guess they could… it’s a self-contained story though,” He stated. “There’s ways you could carry it on. Hopefully shooting in about six months. I’ve started talking about casting, locations, practical stuff like that.”

Garland most likely will not only be writing the series but directing it as well.
Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Oscar Isaac, and Gina Rodriguez co-star in Annihilation, the film that centers on a biologist who has signed up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature no longer apply in an attempt to save her husband.
