The 2004 U.S. version of The Grudge was a hit with genre fans and went on to spawn two sequels, but Hollywood isn’t finished with the franchise yet. We’re getting a reboot.
Last summer we reported that Ghost House Pictures had snagged The Eyes of My Mother‘s Nicolas Pesce to rewrite and direct the reboot. Deadline is now reporting that casting is officially underway. Word is, “Black Mirror” actress Andrea Riseborough is circling the role of a detective and single mother.

The new version of the 20o4 film, inspired by the 2002 Japan’s Ju-on, is the twelfth addition to the franchise which also includes two short films, a video game, and a graphic novel series.
