Entertainment One and CBS Films have just announced that they will co-finance Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
The feature film, based on Alvin Schwartz’s best-selling scary book series of the same name, will be directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), Deadline reports.
Del Toro who penned the script for the adaptation along with Daniel and Kevin Hageman. Toro will also produce with Sean Daniel, Jason F. Brown, Elizabeth Grave, and J. Miles Dale.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark follows a group of teenagers who must solve the mystery of a series of disturbing deaths in their small hometown.
Set to begin filming this summer in Toronto, Ontario, the film will be distributed by Lionsgate.
